Four-month-old Alex Lange is described as a "happy, adorable, big baby." Yet he can't get health insurance.

Rocky Mountain Health Plans refuses to cover little Alex because he's too large. Denver's NBC11News.com reports:

Because of his size, Baby Alex was turned down for health insurance, his height and weight put him in the 99th percentile according to CDC guidelines.

Kelli [his mother] says it's ridiculous, "It's frustrating, it's very frustrating."

Dr. Speedie at Rocky Mountain Health Plans says all babies are evaluated for insurance the same way. "In children it's based on a combination of height and weight."

Wait, I thought rationing was only when people had socialized health care. That's what the pundits scream and the commercials like to tout.

The disease that is destroying this country and enabling corporate fascists to enslave Americans cannnot be seen under a microscope. There is no innoculation for stupidity.

and look where this story came from? Directly out of the Huffington Post. Now how accurate do you really think it is? this is based on one Health plan, not all plans.

That's outrageous! I have a friend whose baby was GIGANTIC. I've never seen a baby this big in my entire life. Fat like all babies are fat, but also just overall HUGE. I can't imagine her being denied coverage just because she has a big baby. Good grief, it's not like they can put a 4 month old on a diet. He's breast feeding! From the orginal NBC 11 News source:
Quote:
He says, “Your weight is not an absolute determinate of health." But says as with all insurance companies, the line has to be drawn somewhere. “Unfortunately when we try to sell people insurance, a number has to be used as a cutoff."
NO, IT DOESN'T! How about you don't cut ANYONE off? If someone is willing to pay the premiums, you insure them. Period. I cannot believe that anyone could support a business model that would leave a BABY uninsured!

How did you miss the plain type that reads: Denver's NBC11News.com reports?

That's where the story came from. The original source is linked right in the story, had you bothered to do your own legwork.

Now, do you want to disparage the reliability of NBC 11 News?

Some people get all frothy at the mouth at the sight of a Huffpo story regardless of where it orginally came from. I am convinced that some people go out of their way to be dense.

Someone else's butt is always easier to smack. huh? What if the baby was related to you? You might be singing a different tune. Maybe, Im mistaken and you do support a public option to take away the power that enables big insurance companies to gauge with unbridled greed.
