Diversity in which respects?

Race - is just one category of diversity in this country

Age - we are certainly not a country derived solely of children, teenagers, young adults, mid-aged adults, and elderly individuals. (There's diversity in age)

Gender - we are also not a country (thank god) solely comprised of one gender so there is a fair amount of gender diversity (even the weird kinds I'll leave them to your imagination)

Education Attainment - we are certainly not a country comprised of all college graduates, so there's diversity among high school only, no high school, no college, some college etc

Occupation - probably mainly due to education attainment we all do not working the same occupational field so there is large amounts of diversity among career choice and job occupation.

Height/Weight - we are certainly not a country comprised solely of tall, short, fat, skinny, and medium size people, so there's a lot of diversity there, although most Americans tend toward the slightly obese size lol

Religious Diversity - we are all not catholic, Muslim, atheist, Jewish, so there's a lot of diversity in religion

Silas77 i know your goal is to inflame the race element only, but the reality of "diversity" extends much further than race alone, so to i'm going to be presumptuous and ask why focus so much attention on race diversity when we live in a society and country, that offers more diversity then any other country in the world.

We are a much stronger nation because we've been able to access all of this "diversity" and put it into one economic power. We pull talent from so many various groups of individuals and it is a benefit to all of us we can do it.

Part of the success related directly to the diversity in America revolves around the protection of (for the most) of property rights and allowing individuals a stable framework with which to (attempt) to build a life for themselves while contributing to an extremely high powerd diverse group of citizens.

Silas777 i said i was being presumptuous based on most of the threads, which involve diversity, that tend to only focus strictly on racial diversity. Sorry, if i misjudged the intent of your question. Anyway you got my response on the overall issue.

Lot of good answers, but most are saying in a nutsbell " because we are a diverse country". So why do we need to promote it, if we already are it? Heres an example, my kids school sent out there annual report stating their goals for the future. # 2 priority under the heading, "Mission and Identity", is ( to increase diversity). This seems to be a common goal in our society today, why?

America does not corner the market on diversity. There are plenty of international cities where people of many different ethnicities and cultures co-exist. Besides, America wears its diversity like a thin veneer, barely concealing a festering racism, sexism and ageism. Americans really had to make that hard choice to $#!t or go blind over having to choose between a Black man and a White woman in the White House. The dust still hasn't settled. When the 'typical' American can speak another language fluently, play a musical instrument well, has at least one close friend of a different race and lives in a neighborhood where different ethnics also reside (and is ok with it) then I will admit that there is progress.

The only countries I see "promoting diversity" are White countries.

So you see these successful White countries like the U.K or Canada claiming "it's our diversity that makes us great" even though the countries were already successful countries before third world people began to flood in three decades ago. These White countries would be successful anyway, it's not their diversity.

If diversity is so great, why are only White countries participating in it?

Would Japan be better off if they began to import the entire third world?

African is a continent of thousands of ethnic groups
China has maybe 60 or more
over 200 Native American Groups
Just because people look alike doesn't mean they understand each other's language, culture, mores, and religions,
