Sweden's attempt to crack down on welfare fraud and waste.

Quote:
Since its inception in 1955, the Swedish system of handouts — to parents, retirees, the ill and the poor — has been based on trust: If you filed a claim, you were simply believed. But those days are over.

With fraud costing the state about 1 billion kronor, or $141 million, a year, the Social Insurance Administration began last year to set up the squad of investigators, which has since fanned out across the country to uncover welfare cheats.

One of the most widespread types of fraud, for example, is carried out by parents who misuse the insurance category called "temporary parental benefit," under which parents can receive about 80 percent of their salary when they stay home from work to look after a sick child. A study has found that more than 10 percent of such claims are faulty.

Any ideas on how countries can prevent this type of fraud and cheating? I remember reading where Germany had problems in the 90's with people scaming their generous unemployment benefits. I wonder if fraud problems is playing a part in the recent success of center right governments in Europe?

That's what happens when you trust people. Says a great deal about human nature doesn't it?

No this is Welfare State Fraud.

Red state/Blue state Taxes

Red States...GOP strongholds... can't seem to pay their way.

All except Texas and Georgia (who barely pay their way) spend more Federal money than the Fed takes in.

Then they have the nerve to lecture us on how "responsible" and "independent" they are.

For instance Montana.

Big Militia State....they love to tell how "independent" they are.

How they wish the big bad Federal Government would leave them alone.

Montana spends 64% over what they pay in Federal taxes.

For every Dollar they are taxed...the Fed returns $1.64 back in spending for the State.

Your ignorance of MT is astounding... and seems to fall in line with everything else you speak about so it's not a big surprising. If you had half a brain you'd realize that the liberal idiot transplants living in the cities are the morons who promote this BS.

Are you disputing the fact that Montana spends more than they contribute?

I think having babies for the pursuit of free money should be considered defrauding the government.

"LaDonna Denson and two other Robeson students say parents not talking to teens and, in some cases, the pursuit of public assistance also factor into the pregnancies."

At least they admit it.
