I'm white and one of my black coworkers makes fun of me because I eat watermelon all the time. I love watermelon and the delis in the city always sell it cut up in containers so I buy it for lunch a lot. She says "look at you, and they talk about us". I never knew until a few years ago that watermelon was supposed to be black-people food.
Figures it would be a black male, white female couple. This good ol' boy JP just couldn't stand the thought. Never mind that these are both highly-educated and successful young people. Stay classy Louisiana.
hey, don't blame LA for this. Blame the judge himself, end of story!!!
I lived in SoCal for 9 years, a while I was ready to get the heck out when I finally did, one of the things that I thought was really cool about Cali was the crazy couples; Laotian woman and Armenian guy, Filipino guy and blond surfer chick girl, black girl and korean guy; etc. To me, especially as a Christian that's really cool; skin is merely clothing for the soul.
I love what you said.
Being the product on an interracial marriage (and cultures) (Father: half black/half white~called mulatto in the Caribbean, and mother (100% white~Belgian/South African) and being in an interracial marriage myself, if you want to call it that (my wife is Black), I have to say the judge has no idea what he's talking about thinking it can't work out for the kids.
I haven't had many problems, and my kids have it even easier. Living in NYC helped a bit, I guess. Ignorance will happen regardless of location or group, but brush it off. No one chose to be any color or any combination race(s).
It's an archaic way of thinking. I'd forgive him for his ignorance.
I wish same-sex couples would get the same attention. But it's ok to discriminate against them
No, it is not ok to discriminate against them at all.
Don't worry. America will get over it eventually. It is a matter of time. Especially since younger generations do not even blink an eye at gay/interracial couples.
