If a family member of mine ever did something like that, I'd question what calibre of person they really were and whether they are really the type of person I want to hold any sway over my life at all.

But that's just me. Others may be more easily corralled. I was raised that if I decided someone was a detriment then I shouldn't keep them around no matter who they are. And I consider selfish behaviour like that to be detrimental.

Actually according to the laws of the land anyone mixed with black blood is considered to be black

Actually while it used to be that way, under the one drop rule, it is no longer that way. Even the 2010 census biracial people will be putting both down, and no longer having to choose one or the other.

That may be true in the eyes of the law (census) but in the eyes of the common folk "if you look black then you are black"

How do most people feel about other mixed groups? For instance, how about white and hispanic? Or white and Asian?
