Can she favor these philosophers and their philosophy and still do her job? If so, then she stays. If not, then she should be dismissed. It is how it effects her job that she be the determinant of her employment status. Looked at another way, can an atheist work for a religious organization? Can an environmentalist work for an oil company? Can a person who has children in a public school work for a private school? Answers to all is yes.
We don't need thought police.
Let's play an old elementary school game. Which one of these does not belong?
Person A: My favorite philosophers are Christians, I quote them, advocate their positions and try to promote their agendas.
Person B: My favorite philosophers are secularists, I quote them, advocate their positions and try to promote their agendas.
Person C: My favorite philosophers are feminists, I quote them, advocate their positions and try to promote their agendas.
Person D: My favorite philosophers are communists, I quote them, advocate their positions and try to promote their agendas.
not a good career move for sure. when you are up on high you got lots of enemies looking for a target. but curious is american belief system--- that are so hateful of socialism unions and worker movements. i mean american labor is being ravaged by their own government---- 21 milllion illegals looking for work in a major recession, our government does not know how they got here or where they work.

To what?
Anyway, is she advocating Mao's philosophy? Does her beliefs affect her ability to do her job? What is the nexus between her beliefs and her ability to do the job?
I think it's appalling. But I know many people who admire Hitler for how he managed to rise to the level of power he did, even though they are sickened by what he did with that power once he attained it. And I wouldn't want to see them fired from their jobs because of it.
Frankly, I think the worst thing about that clip of her is that obnoxious thing she keeps doing with her tongue. What's up with that? Ew!

Those are the bottom line questions.
Let me pose a question to you and ask that you put aside your leftist ideology and answer it as honestly as possible. If you were to tell someone who your favorite philosopher in the world was, would it be safe to assume that you support their ideas, since they are, after all, "your favorite philosopher on the world?" Please answer this as objectively as possible.
As to your other questions, yes, endorsing a brutal dictator that may be responsible for more deaths than any human being ever on earth, who's philosophy is in complete contradiction to this nations founding and constitution is a problem.

Usually a sign of meth, or "E", but she doesn't look the type, so who knows? It was really gross, regardless.
You know, she never said she supported Mao's actions. I agree, her message was poorly conveyed, but it seemed to me that she juxtaposed Mao and Mother Teresa together as polar opposites in their contributions to the world. Yet, each had similar philosophies regarding inner strength. One used this strength to commit atrocities toward humanity and the other to better the lives of thousands.
She make a point to say that you would not often hear these two prominent figures being discussed together, yet as completely different as they were, they shared a common philosophy that enabled them to greatly influence humanity. This is very true.
She should be given the opportunity to explain the point she was trying to make with greater clarity. To me it seemed clear, that she was talking strictly about philosophy.

I don't have a leftist ideology to put aside. This is not about left vs. right. This is about an employee being told he/she must think a certain way as a condition of employment. Do we want to control what people think? No. I don't.
The question is: can she do her job? No one has shown how her favor of Mao's philosophy has negatively affected her ability to do her job. Someone, anyone, show me how her beliefs have compromised her ability to do her job. If her beliefs compromise her ability to do her job, then she should be fired.

That is my objective answer.
Thank you for answering. my only argument is that she supports a brutal dictator who's believe system, if acted out here would involve the over throw of our entire political system. Why would she have been hired in the first place; didn't they vet her?

I don't know anyone who's expressed an admiration of Hitler in any way, even in the broadest, most abstract sense.
I certainly don't want anyone who does anywhere near the seat of our govt's power
