Abbas to Obama: I'm against lifting the Gaza naval blockade - Haaretz Daily Newspaper | Israel News

"Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is opposed to lifting the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip because this would bolster Hamas, according to what he told United States President Barack Obama during their meeting at the White House Wednesday. Egypt also supports this position."

Hamas's ultimate objective is not a Palestinian state. Their ideology is fundamentalist and violent Islam which calls for a new Islamic Caliphate that stretches across the Middle East and eventually the world. Anyone who has a single brain cell would not support this group. I am not surprised that even other Muslims do not support them.

That isn't really surprising, they have the same opinion as Egypt for the same reasons.

Ah yes, we remember the little civil war between hamas and fatah?

The best thing that happened to Pals is that they divided themselves into
the "good "ones /lesser evil,in the West Bank ,under Fatah-Abbas
& the barbarians / more evil of the Gaza strip, under Hamas...

Let's hope they stay divided...

Um, Fatah lost an election due mainly to their corruption. Abbas is their successor--of course they want to continue the blockade, in an attempt to wrest power back from Hamas--a most undemocratic state of affairs. Remember that when Hamas was elected, the Israeli military began capturing members of their government.

The middle east is a tar baby; it contaminates whatever it touches, and the further away America stays, the cleaner our hands.

And strengthen America. We will be on the side of the right, and can start to achieve intelligence on the elements that desire the wrong.

Well yes. That is the best way for Abbas to keep his power, the West Bank is by far the most salvageable and prosperous part of Palestine and he most likely appreciates the fact that Israel is fighting his civil war for him.

You call Hamas "the side of the right"??????
You have a warped sense of morality.

There won't be a peace there as long as Hamas is strong enough to block it. They officially call not only for the extermination of the state of Israel, but also for the extermination of the Jews. And there actions have reflected their words.
