Yes, historical in the fact that our government is attempting to wrest control of 20% of the American economy away from the private sector.
And all done in strictly partisan fashion behind close doors.
Be afraid.

You have to love the part of the description which sets forth, "...and for other purposes.".

Fear mongering. That's all the opponents have.

I agree with you about controlling the private sector, it all points that direction.

Considering how the private health insurance system has abused the customers a public system is just what the oligopolies deserve. This is a part of the system that should be controlled by the Federal Government.

There is no part of our system that should be controlled by the Federal Government. Regulated, yes. Controlled, never.

The problem with healthcare is that it is basically a requirement of life. Without healthcare to some degree you will live a much shorter life. All other necessities of life already have the governments hands all over it. Food(farm subsidies, price control), transportation(mass transit, cash for clunkers, seat belt laws, insurance laws), housing(tons of regulation, equal lending acts, public housing, section 8), mail/shipping(usps), education(all the way up through college), and your utilities(which are heavily regulated by the government, and possibly cap and trade?).

I'm against the government taking over any sort of manufacturing and entertainment, these are luxury items, not necessities. But anything that is a requirement of life, and is being abused the way healthcare is, deserves to either be taken over, and so heavily regulated that you wouldn't even know it was private.

there is a simple solution:::

get rid of health INSURANCE all together

health INSURANCE is NOT health CARE

EVERYONE has access to healthcare....just open up the phonebook,,,millions of doctors listed

if you go to the doctor, and receive that service...then PAY(or arrange a suitable alternative (ie barter)) for the service rendered

WCH
