I am personally against gay marriages and this has always been my view on it. Gallup poll shows an increasing number of Americans opposed to gay marriages, 57% oppose it, up from 56% last year and 53% in 2007. Opposition to gay marriage is higher than it was 5 years ago, in 2004, when 55% opposed it. http://www.gallup.com/poll/118378/Ma...-Marriage.aspx
yes after i saw the news on the attacks and harrassment on churches i was less sympathetic to the cause.

Really? After seeing churches rallying its members to make biblical based public policy I no longer see churches as anything but theological lobbying groups that should lose their protected statuses (i.e. tax exemption).

In other words, you judge an entire category of people based on the actions of a few.
I understand. When I see heterosexuals getting arrested or causing trouble, I think "Damn those heteros! They shouldn't be allowed to marry each other!"

I think a lot of Americans probably feel threatened by same-sex marriage now that they've seen that it can become a reality. It's easier to be in favor of something when it's just a concept.
I see opposition to same-sex marriage as little more than discrimination against a disfavored group of people. For the most part, the issue is being left to the courts to decide, and I'm glad about that. We know from history that the majority will almost always deny rights to a disfavored minority. A lot of people live their lives afraid of the "other", and they'll do whatever it takes to protect themselves from these threats, whether they're real or imagined.
Other studies show increasing support for same-sex marriage. Young adults are very much in favor of it.

But maybe thats a topic for another thread
The church are the members. These same members are voters, just like you and me. The harassment's are being perpetrated by those standing in front of churches harassing church members. For example, the recent staging of homosexual kissing in front of a church, or the marches against the election outcome relating to Proposition 8 in CA.
