This article then states that they fled to NJ, which has higher taxes than NY. Oh NYPost, the Enquirer of all local papers with your horrible reporting.
I know people who have been moving South for years, and 75% of them come back within 2 years.

The study also had some good news. The peak loss of New Yorkers was in 2005, when nearly 250,000 residents left the state. But last year, only 126,000 left, the lowest figure over the eight-year period.
Lol, more awesome reporting from the Post. They contradict themselves over and over in one tiny article. They really are the worst.
How will the 44.000 people who are now paying the taxes since they are the 2% wealthiest people in NY paying for miilion others...if they are leaving...how's that, maybe the Dem. have an answer for that...called "raise the taxes even more"...and more will leave!

Most fled to Florida though.
I fled New Jersey to Florida and will never go back. Most of the north easterners I speak with down here either a) are snow birds or b) will never go back.
And Snow Birds make their primary residence here.
Property taxes are half what they are in the northeast and there is no state income tax. I doubt most of them ever go back there, full time anyway.

Because for every 1 person that leaves, 1.5 move to Manhattan.
Because at least half of those people moving to NJ are still working in Manhattan and paying commuter tax.
I wouldn't worry about NY, we saddle the burden for the rest of the countries welfare.

But then you have to live in Florida.
I know about 15 people who moved to FL or NC/SC. 12 of them moved back.
Every day you try to find something bad about a blue state and blame it on the "evil liberals", it must really bit to be like that.
When I see Real Estate in New York City fally to under a half million dollars I'll put some credence in this STORY. Has Donald Trump gone under yet?
It's looks like Mayor BLOOMBERGs mismanagement to me
How Liberal is he

I thought the Mayor was a Republican, no wonder they are fleeing
The NY Post touting more right-wing spin from the Manhattan Institute. What else is new this morning...
