Yeah, like I said, when you split the (R) vote, in all likelihood a democrat will benefit. In this case, there was no normal primary process.

Fortunately, the GOP leadership is being taught a lesson - don't put your support behind a liberal republican and expect conservatives to go along anymore.

If the conservative or the liberal (R) lose, so be it.

As it stands right now, Owens and Hoffman are neck n neck and if those supporting Scazza come to their senses, Hoffman will win.

We can see how important these three races are to the democrats and obama - Biden going to NY, the WH basically running Corzines campaign and obama stumping for Deeds. They need a distraction, like NY, to mitigate the potential loss of both VA and NJ.

It is amazing Cristie is that close to corzine - if he wins, what a sight that will be.

SCOZZAFAVA SUSPENDS 23RD CAMPAIGN

This should help Hoffman. This is what the GOP "leadership" should have advocated all along. They were smacked down and given a great illustrative warning by conservatives.

It may be too late. Her name is already on the ballot, no? The election is three days off.

What a sad, tragic spectacle in New York. At least I havent heard of the party chairman weighing in on who he supports, but it should be no surprise that Rush Limbaugh is not supporting the woman who was forced out.

What is so sad and tragic?

This is true democracy in action. The party's so-called "leaders" got behind a candidate who is not at all conservative. As a result, the constituents in the district stood up and said - "no way"!

This is more proof that the party does not march in lockstep and it is also a warning to the GOP leadership for the 2010 elections - don't nominate and support dem-lites.

There is no way the NRCC should have been behind a candidate that supported the stimulus, that supports card-check, that supports abortion and actually received an award and endorsement from Planned Parenthood - you can have those kinds of (R)'s, they don't belong on the conservative side of the aisle.

Conservatives have had some painful lessons when it comes to supporting those moderate, walk across the aisle, dem-lite republicans - they lose every time.

I have no problem with that. The establishment GOP needs to stop supporting dem-lites.
Yeah, they need to keep purifying and driving all the moderates out! I fully agree with that. That is exactly what I want them to do. They will become what they are- a party full of old angry white men that cannot win anything outside the Southeast United States.

She was not "socially" conservative. And social conservatives, more than anybody else in the R Party are the ones who are ensuring a very bright future for other parties (I don't say just the Democrats because I am getting sick of them too). As for 2012 I hope to God that the GOP nominates a right wing nutcase like Palin. The election will be a cakewalk for the Democrats.

Crow about what?

I'm not predicting either way now. In a three-way race, the advantage goes to the democrat because the (R)'s are splitting the vote. That's just a fact.

Now that she has suspended, it is still not clear who has the advantage. If those who supported (moderate republicans who favor a liberal republican) her get pissed, the democrat will benefit there as well.

The real issue here; conservatives have said, "enough".

If they lose the district to a democrat, so be it.

Supporting Card Check, the stimulus and Cap&Trade are not "social" issues.
