Just wondering how many believe the United States is more united NOW under this administration.......or less so, than when GW Bush was POTUS.
"United" in the sense of people's belief of "the overall direction" America is going.

I think you should have added an "unsure" option.

One year is not enough time to determine.

No need for those who are unsure to bother answering a VERY simple question that just happens to pertain to a moment in time.....NOW.

"unsure" is a scary prospect to those who see a world in which every thing is black and white, with no shades of grey in between.

Someone(s) told them they're supposed to be angry (and fearful, by extension), and this is how it... err... bubbles to the surface.

It would be comical, if it wasn't so tragic.

We're definitely more united than we were at the end of Bush's term, but I also hope we can be more united than we are now.

If you feel we are more united now under Obama, please.......provide me with any examples you can that clearly show just HOW UNITED America really is.
IF Obama's approval rating was around 85%.......I would think we are, fairly united NOW.......but, have you seen his approval numbers lately?
Falling.....like snowflakes from the sky.
Falling.
Falling.
Falling .

Poll numbers have little to do with whether the country feels more or less united now. Poll numbers reflect a moment in time, and depending on the hot-button issue at that time, poll numbers go up and poll numbers go down.

Poll numbers often reflect the effectiveness of whoever has the loudest voice and, sadly, whoever instills the most fear into the American people.

I think the politically-obsessed on this forum (and I include myself) often lose sight of the fact that most of the country is not obsessed with politics. They may keep up with political news, but it's a relatively minor part of their day.

Far more important is the immediacy of their own lives and those of their families. Do I still have a job? Am I going to lose my home? What is the price of gas doing? Is there any way my child will be able to go to college?

Most people realize that President Obama was dealt one of the worst hands ever dealt an incoming President ... two very long and costly wars, and an economy on the brink of disaster the kind of which this country hasn't seen in decades.

But, we're still here, the economy is slowing recovering without the plunge into depression that was all too possible, we're gradually extracting ourselves from one ill-conceived and ill-executed war, and we have a President who is actually thinking before acting with the second war.

Despite the bombardment of 24/7 news (and as it has always been, the best news for news organizations is bad news), I think this country is more united than a year or two ago - we are united in a feeling of cautious optimism.

Both sides appear to be equally united....against each other.
