Racial disparity: All active ethics probes focus on black lawmakers - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20091103/pl_politico/29055 - broken link)

“Is there concern whether someone is trying to set up [Congressional Black Caucus] members? Yeah, there is,” a black House Democrat said. “It looks as if there is somebody out there who understands what the rules [are] and sends names to the ethics committee with the goal of going after the [CBC].”

"African-American politicians have long complained that they’re treated unfairly when ethical issues arise. Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are still fuming over Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to oust then-Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) from the House Ways and Means Committee in 2006, and some have argued that race plays a role in the ongoing efforts to remove Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) from his chairmanship of that committee."
I wonder how many Congress critters have bags with $90,000 of FBI marked money in their freezers. As I said, just wondering.

Also, I wonder how many people really think this lady shouldn't be investigated for many things. Here she is talking about being socialist. I admit that somebody jazzed up this video of her but she did say the words as recorded except for only about three uh. uh, uhs. Kick her out for admitting she is a socialist I say.

Who knows? All I do know is there is no way that Rangel deserves to keep his position on that committee.

Apparently the CBC thinks Rangel should retain his position. Apparently the CBC thinks that blacks are being targeted for investigation. Apparently the CBC thinks that blacks being targeted for investigation is the only reason that a disproportionate number of blacks are currently under active investigation. Apparently the CBC thinks that the rest of Congress and the ethics committee in particular are racist. That's what I gathered from the article.

If it is deserved then so be it. Nothing raciest about it.

If the above statment is true then the CBC has a serious integrity issue and simply cannot be trusted to provide honest input on this subject!

William Jeffereson was found guilty. The man's sister is in prison over this deal and the FBI found 70K buck in his freezer.

I would be very willing to side with them if there was evidence that their members were being unfairly scrutinized. At least where Jefferson is concerned, he was guily and they rightfully went after him.
