Remember their city council telling marine recruiters they were unwanted and unwelcomed intruders to their city. Remember their city council ordering their city attorney to find a way to evict the Marine recruiters from their city. Remember their city council giving Code Pink the gift of their own parking space, protest permit, and noise permit to protest the Marine recruiting office every week. Remember the Mayor of Berkeley standing with Code Pink telling the Marines to get out of his city. Remember the sacrifices the men and women of our nation's armed forces, remember the "warm welcome" our Vietnam veterans received when they returned home, and then remember that such behavior is alive and well to this day in Berkeley, California. Some here may have forgotten, some may have forgiven, but I will do neither for they've never apologized and many of those who voted for such actions are still in office which goes to show the support for their anti-military actions among the people of Berkeley, CA.

I just found this one and want to side with you against this city for this event. I had been against them since a lady whose husband had been mistreated at the U Cal, Berkely by professors who were Vietnam rereads and as left as you could get. Her husband was in the Air Force and a close to retiring Colonel who let the force him into taking his discharge. Those clowns bold both the good people that they were so proud of standing at dockside spitting on returning soldiers. How does one say that such a thing never happened when the perps are bragging about doing it?
Berkeley....ah, yes. The wonderful city which ordered its fire trucks to QUIT flying those oversize American flags, just a few dark weeks after 9 -11. Seems the big flags were looked at as possibly having a 'divisive' effect on some of the local citizenry (it was never explained just WHO was offended)...all those stars...all those stripes...you know...after all, it CAN get a little intimidating...

wanted to rep you for this one, but of course I couldn't. I need to spread it around, so let me just say: Thanks
Nita
