He's a script-reading actor, for chrissake. With the same tired old left-wing agenda.

Nothing like a court jester who doubles as lap-dog for the party in power.

Takes a lot of courage...

So what?

Which don't you understand - "comedy" or "satire"?

So what was he all those dreadful years when his party was not in power? And if you bothered to do any research you would find out that he's a gifted writer. And what does "isn't even his real name" prove? What a sophomoric attempt to make that an issue. What's next? His mother wears army boots?

I assume that after his lacrosse-waterboy days, he was acting in third-rate shows and doing lame standup. And lots of drugs. Your point?

Oh, surely. Depending on one's definition of "gifted..."

That he's a liar, a fake, and ashamed of his own family -- or that he caved in to ambition. That he has as much credibility as any thespian.

The true sophomoric phenomena here are his adolescent humor and the pathetically low standards of his audience.

A nation of jejeune hyenas.

I do not really watch his show, but I have always felt he is sort of over praised. Always hearing about how great he is in places like the NY Times, NY Magazine, etc...

the few times I have watched his show.... I find myself wondering why he is so critically acclaimed.

It is really just other people in the same industry with the same views as him.

Believe he is consistently clobbered in the ratings.....

I understand subservience to the party in power, which is oddly immune from Mr. Stewart's parodic gifts...

so? A lot of people change their names when they are estranged from their fathers. My husband did.

You are just upset because 90% of what he finds to poke fun at is from the right.

Maybe the right should stop giving him so much material.

Whining that he pwned Sean Hannity?

I'll admit, when a serial shrieker like Hannity mans up and apologizes, even he gets a little respect from me.

At least Jon Stewart is blatent and obvious about the fact that he is just an entertainer.

FOX news puts on the same sort of shows, with a right wing slant, and passes them off as real news. Minus the jokes, but the same completely non-objective, slanted drivel.

I'm not attacking conservatives here. But the conservative news outlets these days are MUCH worse than than liberal ones.

....

His writers are excellent. He gets alot of praise because its excellent comedy, but its reality based, political themed comedy. Taking the rantings of the GOP, already far away in the political wilderness of fighting a Cold War against the world (and being moderately successful, to everyones dismay) and lampooning it in a half hour format and it is not that terribly difficult to find new jokes, its not like YOU ARE EVER GOING TO RUN OUT OF MATERIAL..........
