What if America was split into two countries: One is run by Democrats. The other is run by Republicans. Neither are allowed immigration from either side, just tourist visas.
Which one would you live in?
(BTW, the Republican nation would be a pure Republic, without Medicare/Medicaid and any other Democratically-driven social programs.)
I would live in the Republican nation where I could legally kill anyone who tried taking my stuff, but I'd frequently visit the Democratic nation for the strip clubs and casinos.

It wouldnt matter, it would only be a matter of time before one declared war on the other for resources and debt.
I would probably live on the democrat side, but not because I have any faith in that big bunch of frauds and losers, but more because the Republican party is becoming something...scary. Identity politics, overt extremism, 'race to the bottom' style politics, such a nation would not be a pleasant place to live.

Even though I absolutely despise the Republican party, I would definitely have to side with them if there was a split. I think at first the democratic country would be very strong, but the ideology of the democratic party is hell-bent on destroying America.
I am not happy with the country breaking up but, I think we would be much better off to split the country up into smaller units. With more and more power being focused in the hands of the federal government, I feel like the ideological differences between New york, Texas, and California aren't being represented.
It would be nice to believe in "states rights", but the reality is, there are too many things that we differ on ideologically that can't be fixed by allowing more states rights. Especially things like tariffs, international trade, and immigration. Economically, any state that abolishes unions, the minimum wage, and all other socialist programs would be able to produce goods cheaper. So unless you could put heavy tariffs/regulations on interstate trade, businesses would just build up along the border of the side with lower taxes and lower wages.
Can you just picture all the radio stations in the United Burgs of Republicanland?

2)Country Classics (not that there's anything wrong with that)
4)Classic Rock (with a little metal thrown in for the Skinheads)

Honestly, Rush Limbaugh would probably be basically out of a job. There wouldn't really be a need for him.
I would say there would be probably a huge drop in the amount of Rap. But Republicans have never hated rap music for its beats/melodies/rhymes. They hate rap music for its message, and especially the videos that usually accompany rap music.
The sad thing is, Republicans are actually hypocrites, they defend freedoms until they don't agree with them. I would actually hope that the Republican country becomes almost a theocratic democracy. I find no point in defending the freedoms of the advocates for immorality.
It's pointless. You know what would happen. After the Democrats ban guns, the Republicans would just invade and take them back over. You would surely find out later that the Democrats couldn't pay for all their programs and their crime rate was out of control, so they actually had the Republican's invade with some sort of agreement that keeps them in some sort form of power. They would bribe the Republicans and the Republicans would gladly accept the bribe, because really...the Republicans would quickly realize that they wouldn't be able to make a good movie or television show. People would just accept it and go back to how they were because, like now, the government is so powerful on convoluted they don't know what the F is really going on not to mention there is nothing they can really do about it (besides switch between the same old bad ideas every four years). It would be like it is now...only a few years later.
