The new Obama economic and employment plan is to bring all terrorists to American soil and provide babysitter jobs to the good people of America. Lovely.

Really?

Let's see -

16 ounces in lb.
3 lbs is 48 ounces
gold is say - $1134/ounce * 48 ounces = $54,432

Even after the crash, I'm not sure that $54,432 will get you that nice of a house in Florida.

Any views about the appreciating value of the DOW, FTSE, per chance?

Thought not.

Quite a few near my family in excellent condition (foreclosures of course) - St. Augustine near the ocean too.

My brother in law holidayed in Florida three weeks ago - he said that Fl property is dead.
(Fort Myers).
He lived over there for a decade in the 1990's.
He said property has tanked and will remain so for years.

He's thinking about buying up some houses over there.

Personally I have no interest in purchasing property there or anywhere in the USA for that matter.
I have zero interest in assisting the US economy!

I disagree. While I have great amounts of pent up schadenfreude for people trying to ride bubbles like the Dow and housing, I'm ready to do my patriotic duty and buy up whatever I can with my saved money made in commodities and metals when the price is right, which should be soon right after the last of the housing credit extensions ends, probably in April. By next winter I should be ready to pull the trigger. Hoping to score a house with 1/2 - 1 lb of gold.

Your grandmother wouldn't like you using a phrase like schadenfreude.

Average house is STILL not ANYWHERE near $54,432 - and it won't be.

Yeah, that's what I heard in 2005 with regards to my assertion that homes in FL would be over 50% off. I sure learned my lesson.
