Al: It definitely is, and it’s a relatively new one. People think about geothermal energy — when they think about it at all — in terms of the hot water bubbling up in some places, but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, ’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot …
Ok Einstein, we wouldn't be having the debate if that were true.
Maybe he meant the Sun's core...but that wouldn't fly...we all know the Sun has absolutely nothing to due with warming on Earth.
I don't blame Gore for pushing this. It would require several of these wells to power just one of his homes.
Geothermal energy is actually easier to retrieve than that. At 600 feet below the surface the groundwater is a constant 50 degrees. This is enough to augment heating systems in the winter and completely power cooling systems in the summer.
The thing that really bothers me is that Gore clearly hasn't a clue as to what he is talking about. He probably doesn't even give a rat's behind.

Maybe he should have asked W about this --- his house in TX is heated by geothermal energy, and has been for years.
