Reno area. County is usually the quickest. Sparks is prompt as well. Reno cops can be tied up, especially on weekends and when we have events like Hot August Nights or Street Vibrations, but otherwise, twenty minutes tops. I had a county cop show up in five minutes when kids were shooting bb's at my window.
I never claimed you were a victim, I simply am saying your opinion to de-arm others is a strong one. I do not think your justified in attacking the manhood of those who do carry. I for one work in law enforcement and I often run into criminals who I have had negative encounters with in the past. These individuals usually do not threaten me but a few have. One such occasion having a weapon may have been the factor that stopped the individual from attacking me. Do not think there is no purpose to carrying guns. It is true that it may apply to you, but for others like myself gun ownership means taking my family out to eat without some released felon harming my wife, children or me.

Of course I think there is no reason to carry guns.
It simply escalates encounters and more people are killed by morons with weapons.
Perhaps you should move to a less crime ridden area or consider counseling for your fears.

You could, as easily, walk into your corner store, on your way to wherever, a half hour from now, and be dead from a bullet fired from some meth heads illegal weapon, just because he needed a fix and you could not shoot back, or first. Some folks, including myself, prefer to have the option of meeting such a threat with return or pre-emptive fire. It matters not a whit , to me, if I am killed by surprise, without having fired a shot, if I , at least, was able to do so if given the chance. Peronally, I would rather have the means to shoot back, than not, even if I lose the exchange, at least I would go down with some semblance of a fight. When faced with the chance or by the actual occurance, of an attack by a goblin with a firearm, it dos not take a whole lot of ponderance to realize that having a gun, in a gunfight, is highly desireable, if one wishes to come out alive. In the end, ain't none of us getting out of this life alive, however, having a bit more say so as to WHEN we depart seems more ...ammenable.
Actually, I could NOT "easily" do that. The odds are for me witnessing a crime--yet I've never done so, unless I was personally involved. Most of those have been simple assaults. Had an attempted burglary once--which I foiled, by putting the guy in a headlock and walking him out the door. He never came back.
None of the incidents I have ever been involved in involved the presence of a gun. A knife, yes...and I removed the weapon from the person in both cases. So...where are all these guns? Owning a gun will not keep me from being shot--if someone were so inclined. And does nothing more than provide a potential weapon to the attacker. Someone could break in and steal the gun, for instance. And then I've provided a gun to a criminal. How is THAT wise? No, better not to have them at all...until I need it to end my own life because it's become necessary.
