When did they hit kids for refusing to recite the Pledge? Any examples? Any at all?

You are aware that the Supreme Court squarely supports any citizen in refusing to recite a loyalty oath, which in essence is what the Pledge is?

Sounds like parental brainwashing to me.
I hope someone else has addressed this already, but here it goes...

Where the hell does it say the boy is gay? Nowhere. HE even says he is not. Nice try. Next time watch/read the sources that have been provided.

Go blow your snotty noses on the American flag.....before you burn it.
Sorry, but the "Pledge" never succeeded at brainwashing ME.....not like Obama's desperate attempt to do so with school kids, anyway.

WHY....don't you ALL just move to China or go sit in a sweat lodge in Arizona.....forever?
Just vanish.
Sign your a good man!(or good woman if that's what applies)

The Pledge was written without "under God" included. So in a way, I agree with your statement, but someone should have told that to the federal government in the 1950s. The original version:

"I Pledge Allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all."

BTW, the Pledge was written by a Christian Socialist, Francis Bellamy. The pledge was originally intended for children in school, and the salute that was used early on was similar to that of the Nazis (yes, yet another thing the Nazis ruined for everyone).

When one of my coworkers saw this article, he said the parents should be shot. What a nice guy. By the way, this isn't just your country, it's the country of about 305 million other people, many of whom may not be exactly like you. I know that's probably troubling to think about, but it's the truth.

It's amazing how many people don't know that, usually the most ardent supporters of The Pledge.

So if the parents don't think exactly like you, their children shouldn't listen to them? Their children should listen to you instead? Did the article even mention the parents are liberal? This is in Arkansas. The odds of them being liberal are pretty darn slim, but heck, maybe they are. So what?

If he sees an injustice in his country, and tries to change it, then I'd say he loves his country more than most.

One last point. If a ten year old child is assumed to not be fully capable of understanding gay rights, then how could that same child be expected to fully understand a pledge of allegiance to a country? From his quotes, it sounds like he understands both pretty darn well, IMO.

The kid could probably get his message out better if he'd climb in a balloon and create a media circus. I bet his dad would like the publicity.
Many kids go out and make a difference. That Trevor kid that collected blankets for the homeless, Alex and her lemonade stand, others who do good works and then get recognition for it. It seems this kid wanted the publicity first and did nothing but protest.
Bottom line, ignore the kid and he'll soon lose interest and him and his dad will move on to some other attention grabbing scheme.
