Global warming appears to have stalled. Climatologists are puzzled as to why average global temperatures have stopped rising over the last 10 years. Some attribute the trend to a lack of sunspots, while others explain it through ocean currents.

At least the weather in Copenhagen is likely to be cooperating. The Danish Meteorological Institute predicts that temperatures in December, when the city will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, will be one degree above the long-term average.

Otherwise, however, not much is happening with global warming at the moment. The Earth's average temperatures have stopped climbing since the beginning of the millennium, and it even looks as though global warming could come to a standstill this year.

Ironically, climate change appears to have stalled in the run-up to the upcoming world summit in the Danish capital, where thousands of politicians, bureaucrats, scientists, business leaders and environmental activists plan to negotiate a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Billions of euros are at stake in the negotiations
Stagnating Temperatures - Climatologists Baffled by Global Warming Time-Out , by Gerald Traufetter, Spiegel On-line | Climate Realists

Coupled with the recently revealed data falsifications and outright fraud by warm-mongering scientists this brings new meaning to the term 'settled science'. So to all the global warming alarmists: it's over. You lost.

Why do some people feel so strongly about defeating the theory of global warming? How has it affected your life, and if it's established that global warming isn't really occurring, how do you think your life will improve?

Your last statement seems to be very much the truth. It is surely time for the other side to be proclaiming that the discussion is over.

Do we have to have Cap and Trade if global warming isn't taking place? If it isn't then the talk about CO2 becomes a whole lot less liable to sway most people and our Congress is getting ready to turn our country into a third world nation with that silly law which is based on global warming. And you ask how our lives will improve with the defeat of the belief that is the cause of Global Warming theory. Just think, Obama won't have to be forced to sign that fool treaty at Copenhagen if this all turns out to be true.

I think this all has a lot to do with our lives in the future.

But this argument has been going on long before Cap and Trade came along. I don't understand why it angers some people so much.

The environmentalists first proposed a cap/trade type policy over 40 years ago.

Nobody that has been alive for more than 50 years can discount that temps change. The debate point is the cause.

We have spent trillions over the last 40 years on environmental programs to clean the air. We have legislated higher mileage, scrubbers, filters, and other programs. Nobody discounts the benefit of cleaner air - despite the increase in population, the air in many cities is actually cleaner than it was 30 years ago. Yet despite all that expense, temperatures continue to rise according to their data. The 90's showed a huge spike, remember? If we have already spent trillions, what do we really plan to accomplish. They are against nuclear, they know solar is net energy inefficient, that there is not enough wind to power America. What's their plan? Control.

Not content, the agenda is to now take another $2 trillion from you and me and start redistributing it to other nations. If you read the proposed legislation, and the type of programs they plan to fund, you will learn that it has less to do with saving the planet than you might think.

Thank you for the rational explanation. I appreciate that you gave some details.

I think that sometimes there's confusion and conflict between the topic of global warming and the topic of air pollution. I think most Americans believe cleaner air is a good thing, but it's clear that some don't even think that having less pollution in the air is worth the efforts in advancing technology.

Amen, it is more about an agenda and controlling people's lifestyle. If you look closely at all the stupid issues tied into GW and what people are propsosing to stop/slow it down it is a real laugher at best but scary in some sense. Let the sheep be led off the cliff. I will not be a blinded by scare tactics no matter who presents them.
