The terrorists would indeed be subject to trial in our criminal courts had they not attacked the Pentagon, but since they did, they indeed moved their legal jurisdiction from our criminal courts to a military court system..
New one on me. Any civilian "attacking" a military installation has placed themselves under military law? Can you cite a case?
First off I do not see how this makes one bit of difference in the long run. They can plead not guilty in either court. They can have an lawyer in either court. And they can give their testimony in either court. We were not war at the time they commited their crimes so I do not see how they warrant a military trial. Either way they can be convicted and either way they can be sentenced to death. Also do not forget that the trial can be closed to the public and to media live coverage so thinking they will get to use our coursts a platform to spout their beliefs is not really true. Based on the facts of the situation I think this was the correct choice of trial choices.
As for this hurting the Demos or President Obama, not gonna happen, just more wishful thinking on the part of farsiders.

Obama and Holder already got them freed by saying that they will be found guilty. Obama is a lawyer, do you think for one second that what he said wasn't calculated to get a mistrial? You wait and see how these guys walk.
No. In a Democracy the country is ruled by the majority. The senate and the house of rep. are a Democracy. People decide by voting on ballot initiatives and referendums ( gay-marriage etc.). That's what we are doing. That's not what you're doing in a Reublic.

By popular usage, however, the word "democracy" come to mean a form of government in which the government derives its power from the people and is accountable to them for the use of that power. In this sense the United States might accurately be called a democracy.
Constitusion might say we are a Republic, but the U.S. doesn't act like one.
