I don't presume to put words in a historical figure's mouth the way so many people here are willing to do. But in our not so distant history Italians and Irish were not considered to be white, back when they were recruited here to work in the coal mines. The Chinese have been here since they built the railroads. Throw in the blacks, the Spainish and the Native Americans I would say we've never really had the all white nation of your illusions except for maybe that short period between the Mayflower and the first importing of slaves. The Statue of Liberty says words to the effect, "give me your tired, your poor and people longing to be free." I'm sorry for you that in this century those poor people longing to be free are people of color.
I think the "True White American" Movement should be out there actively protesting the Statue Of Liberty and what it stands for.
True americans drink PBR, not that funny french red wine crap. True americans drive pick-up trucks & SUV's, none of that Toyota good gas mileage prissy car junk. True americans hate all muslims. True americans sling their guns over their shoulder everywhere they go. True americans think their country can do no wrong...ever.

How we interpert it is different. Those who say those who don't agree with them are not Americans obviously have not read the Constitution.
Don't start with this hateful garbage when you don't know what you are talking about. Where have you heard that Republicans aren't willing to support wounded soldiers? You know, there is a thing called charity, that many conservatives like supporting. A great deal of charity work is done through churches. I am most certainly not against this sort of charity.
What I am against is the government forcefully taking my money and giving it to people who have screwed their own lives up. Yes, there are always some people who deserve it because they can't help it. But most of the people on welfare put themselves in their own situations through their own carelessness.
So who all are you including in your list of poor people we should be giving our money too? Are you including illegal immigrants? Where does it stop? Should we just let the entire world immigrate here and benefit from it?
Join the army and when you get wounded & lose your legs we will tell you to go out and get charity. Do you even listen to yourself or are you intentionally playing dumb? DUH!
I have been reading several threads started by conservatives who are complaining that they are the "true" Americans and that liberals are traitors. And I recall Sarah Palin saying she enjoyed visiting parts of America that were "pro American"
So what defines a pro American? How do I know who is and who isn't a pro American? How do I know who is and who isn't a true American?

A true American,
1) has true belief in democracy.
Example.Whether he is in favour or against the capital penalty,he accepts a mixed system,with sharing of power,where both sides are represented...
2) Believes in individual liberty,duty,responsibility,self defence.
Does not request from a stranger( policeman) to save him,just becauses he pays him a salary.
Understands & accepts the duty for self defence.
Whether he favours guns or not,accepts a system where everyone is free to make his choice.
3) Believes in capitalism,low taxes,small gov sector,no welfare-nanny state.
In short a true American is...
Strong on justice,
Energetic in self defense,
faithful to capitalism,albeit critical to its shortcomings,because it is such a better system than socialism..
In one phrase,a true American is the full opposite of a true European...
