People without faith, or "non-religious" as the secular world would say, can do a lot of "good" in their neighborhoods, their communities, their country. However, the reason they do good is to make themselves feel good. It feeds their egos, but does nothing for their spiritual condition.
People of true faith do good because they become instruments of God on this earth and they are allowing God to work through them to do HIS will, not their own.
And you have ZERO proof that He does not. I have not called gays sinners. I personally do believe that they are born gay, I was simply giving you so things to think about but it is very obvious that you are NOT open minded enough to even attempt to see anyones POV other then yours.
And you have no "proof" that 3 headed fire breathing dragons riding unicycles don't exist...You can't really prove something is non-existant.....I am glad you believe science. My point is that if people are born gay than how are they sinners?? If you don't believe they are then you are not part of the "many christian conservatives" (much different from all christians) i was referring to in the question and therefore there is no need for you to defend yourself. I assume you think I am not open minded because I disagree with you. I am quite open to hearing any and all relevant arguments, however those that deny science I find to be irrelevant.

Lots of people are clearly scared of anyone different from them. Its quite evident in racism, sexism etc. Not saying you are any of those. I think it stems from the fear of god stance but thats just my opinion.

Not sure where you get your info on the homeless from? can you source that? But even if thats true they should be. Christian churches are the largest tax exempt group in the country. I would also argue hypocrisy when they build huge churches with gold, marble etc... they certainly have not ended hunger and would not that be a more christ like thing to do?? you don't need fancy churches to worship in. Also why is it nuns take poverty vows while priests live in huge houses paid for by the church and wear gold jewelry and drive nice cars?

If you think that helping others will obtain heaven for anyone, then you simply do not understand what salvation means. It has been repeatedly explained by several posters: one cannot EARN one's way into heaven. To think that is to not understand Christianity.
