It's kind of cool reading articles like this and seeing how a myriad of liberal policies conspire to create environments like this one.

Oh and the NAACP & Teachers Union sued the city when they wanted to close the school down because they claimed the city didn't do enough to fix the school.

Quote:
Kids hoot and yammer so loudly that their ruckus drowns out the teacher. A trash can is overturned in class and dumped. Grimy floors are littered with sunflower-seed shells, spit out by the hundreds.

Books and supplies fly out the windows. Mouse droppings are everywhere, even on the computers.

MS 344, the Academy of Collaborative Education in Harlem, is a hellhole where teachers should get combat pay -- they are cursed, assaulted and sometimes groped.

"It was literally war," said a teacher who once found a sticky used condom in her purse. "I was pushed, shoved, scratched, thrown against the wall, spit on and pickpocketed. I just wanted peace."

Yeah, because its all the liberals faults.

How ridiculous a claim.

Liberals aren't to blame for actions like that, anymore then conservatives can be blamed for poor people in the south.

If I was expected to learn in an environment littered with mouse turds I'd be angry too.

Only 2 of 88 eighth grade students passed their state tests ?
And that school administration seems to be a bunch of cronyism with family and friends running the school.
And the Principal..comes in, locks herself in office all day, and then leaves ???

ROFL. NAACP and the Union see nothing wrong here ?
Are they (NAACP and Union) so blinded that they would rather this school stay the way it is so they can preserve a few cushy jobs for inept administrators ?
Seems they are more about those teacher/administrator jobs than they are about kids learning in a safe environment.

You can't teach little hellions who haven't the slightest interest in learning. And yeah, I"m certain that mouse turds are definitely the reason for their rage

If the parents don't care about the kids how can you expect the union dues-payers to care?

It goes against basic common sense.

Sad to say but the children have no future.

...and the liberal cycle continues...

*sigh*

It's the fault of the parents. If parents do not value and encourage education and discipline, then the child will not either. Too many times people blame "the system", when in fact responsibility lies directly in the home.

My high school in Brooklyn was like this. Going into a stairwell at off times was a risk to valuables and health. Head bashing fights daily, grime..Real poor conditions. Crumbling walls with ASBESTOS. One year the school year got delayed to clean it up. Some of these schools are wastelands, And not a motivator to stay in class when you can't concentrate.

Wonder sometimes how much Asbestos I may have breathed in...

I'm surprised.

Brooklyn is controlled conservative school board members.

For all their talk of personal responsibility, conservatives do a huge amount of complaining. Liberals are to blame for why they are unemployed, liberals are to blame for why Tommy can't read, liberals are to blame for why the buses are late, liberals are to blame for...........

Selfish and greedy people don't occupy one ideology. Desperate and hopeless people don't occupy one ideology either. The actions of the schoolteachers, the union, and the city's/state's department of education were/are deplorable in this situation. But leave it to the peabrain conservative to blame their boogeyman (the gets-a-new-thing-to-blame-them-on-every-day "liberal") and walk away with a sneer.

I blame the parents, I blame the teachers, I blame the unions for not really looking after the kids or the teachers, I blame the administration for not firing that kook Principal. Plenty of blame to go around and none of it, like pretty much most of the situations and problems we have in this country, can't and shouldn't be blamed on a single vaguely defined and demonized ideology.
