oh of course. Like I don't believe that the whole earth flooded and Noah had 2 of EVERY animal on the ark. I do believe there could have been a big flood and an ark with lots of animals, though.

While I dont look to science to prove or disprove the bible, I am still fascinated by the complexity of things around me.

When things are unexplained, they are mysterious and spiritual and cause people to ponder and wonder about things. Knowledge on the other hand corrupts this feeling.

For instance, when you have no idea the earth is a big round ball orbiting a massive ball of fire, your mind goes wild trying to figure it out... but once science bluntly states something like: You are the 3rd planet in the solar system, orbiting a burning orb of hydrogen, you have 4 seasons because of the axis we are tilted on, etc. etc... A person just tends to go, Oh, ok, I get it, and they pull out of their driveway and go to work.

In reality that is still a very bizarre concept and this explanation is still unexplained!! From the tiniest of organisms to the largest galaxies in the universe, there is no possible way to understand it all. No one should be threatened by science. There is plenty of room for both religion and science.

Just because science can explain something, it doesnt debunk something else, unless it deserves debunking. Such as the world is flat type of thing.

We can believe whatever we want or not believe anything when it comes to personal belief. America allows free expression of religion. But the church has no right to instill a belief system so contrary to what reality is. It's hard for some Christians to admit that when they act like crazy jihadists the nation is going to reject them as fanatics who need to be carefully watched. Guys walking into churches to kill abortion doctors and then being called a hero by a group of crazed fundamentalists is very scary.

Religion is one of the least complicated matters. It doesn't require any thinking what so ever.

And it's not meant to require "thinking." Religion is faith in something beyond ourselves. Teaching religion or allowing "creation" nonsense in public schools is even contrary to religious tenets. It is a personal belief that a person should keep personal and not ever impose on fellow Americans. I just can't understand the religious Right's motive & how blind they are to the utter damage they have caused the world.

What exactly do you mean by "anything goes"? Giving all people rights and choices?

Your GOD is not the only possible perception of something beyond ones self. There are many more much more realistic ideas out there.

"It's like trying to converse with flat worms" I would have to say the same of people who ignore science in many ways and believe things like the earth being 6000 years old or some divine being in the sky created everything here in 6 days.
Erroneous assumptions all the way around.

No where in any of my past posts will you find any statement from me saying that I even believe in a god of any kind. Or that I attend a church of any kind. Or that I ignore science. (How could I? I was a nurse for 44 years.) Or that I hate Jews/homosexuals/liberals/any particular ethnicity or race/etc. The ONLY thing you can infer is that I support the rights of people to live the lives they so choose as long as they are not hurting anyone else. True, I DISTRUST Obama and the sooner he is out of office, the happier I will be. True, I think liberals are often misguided. True also that I think conservatives are often misguided. Also true is that I find the liberals in this forum to be so close minded that trying to converse with them is like "trying to converse with a flat worm". Liberals spew and rant and rave about how religion and the ethics that stem from that heritage are being crammed down their throat but I see no little to no evidence of that actually being the case. (Maybe I just haven't been here long enough.) Rather, I see plenty of evidence that the opposite is what is really happening here.

So, open up and grow up You might find there is much to be learned with an open mind.

Do you even realize how you are hurting the church when you assume to know what is right for the country? It is not good what you intend to do to innocent Americans. Please stop & desist imposing a belief system that isn't even Christian.

I believe there could've been too. But I have to ask, what in the world depends on whether there was or not?
