The issue is not what Bush did - he had six dinners over his eight years. The issue is the scope and scale. The issue is that Obama promised different. The issue is that Obama told America we would have to "roll up our sleaves" and "cut back and sacrifice". I'm not seeing that. It's just the opposite.
How anyone can criticize Bush for eight years and defend Obama for the same (or worse) actions simply because "Bush did it also" escapes me. I truly worry for our nation.

lol @ fox news Top Republican Lawmakers Not Invited to Obama's First State Dinner
even they're whining about some republicans not getting invitations...not about the president having a state dinner during hard times.
Economy is in shambles. Deficit in the trillions. Not to worry - let's throw a State Dinner. Yes, 320 liberal elite will converge on the South lawn in a tent decorated to the hilt. The guest list is so large they won't fit in White House. Just think of the carbon footprint of all those jets flying in for dinner!
Estimated cost: millions.
Go Obama! You are truly a man of the people, for the people in difficult times.
Not you, too GOPATTA2D! I thought you knew better than that!
Bush hosted many of them. one just last year. and the high end estimate is a half million. Stop exageratting. I don't think they should do it either but don't act like obama is the only one
Time for a fact check for the liberal flunkies:
Bush hosted 6 state dinners in 8 years.
By comparison, Clinton hosted 25 (or 31). I'm seeing two different numbers
Well, this is Obama's first, after almost a year in office.
It's not the Dinner itself, Kat. It's more. The scope is enormous. The cost is off the charts compared to Bush. That is the issue to me. It's more "do as I say, not as I do" politics as usual.
