I'd much rather my tax dollars go towards proving universal health care to my fellow citizens.

It's not like the tax rate is going to rise dramatically if we have single-payer system. I'd imagine wages would go up because employers would no longer be responsible for health care and most people wouldn't mind paying slightly more in taxes if they're going to get an equitable health care system and if they're going to see their wages rise.
Well the polls say exactly the opposite!

what a poll says is different than real life. it sounds good when someone asks..would you give more if? in reality the people who don't give now still won't. lower the tax that is just more for them.

Please tell me you are not.
Not necessarily but it's not like you see atheists, Buddhists, Jews, etc wearing crosses.

There are plenty of conservative Christians in Arkansas and a lot of them have expressed that they aren't interested in helping the poor or helping their fellow citizens get health care.

It isn't even just the poor that are struggling. Plenty of middle class people have had to file bankruptcy due to medical bills and lots of them had health insurance at the time.

There are also those who work full time but their jobs don't provide health insurance and they don't make enough to buy health insurance on their own.

What are you talking about?

My post you quoted talks about a lot of different things.

A link to the polls you are referencing would be helpful.

The more liberal sects of Christianity are for universal health care and the more conservative ones are generally against it.

For the billionth time, how do you define poor, those on social assistance or those who work their behinds off and still can't afford healthcare?

Ah, none of us left wing atheist types are using the bible to justify healthcare, we can do that based upon secular enlightenment alone, what we are doing here is simply to ask for a little consistency with their own tenets from those who do believe that those tenets should be guide governance.

Well since the concept of socialism didn't appear until the 19th century, I can understand why. However, the principles embodied in any socialist theory that I know of seems to be far more Christian than Christian capitalism.

Rich people can go to heaven very easily. All they need to do is ask Christ to be their savior and serve him faithfully.
Hmmm that must be the New Republican Bible...

Matthew 19:24,

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

BTW that does not mean a real camel passing through the eye of a needle. If you knew the Bible you would know that.
I know the bible, so puleeze enlighten us.

Jesus despised the hypocrites of his day whether they were within the church or government. He is neither Republican nor Democrat. I would say he would look at our government and cringe regardless of the party that was in power.
Well I would agree with you on that one.

My favorite Wall Street/Republican bible verse of the day.

James 5:1-6. Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. ...Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and with you have withheld, cries out against you; and the outcry of the harvesters has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.
