Succotash: (often seen with the word "sufferin'") A hot food dish consisting of cooked corn kernels and lima beans, plus other stuff if desired, such as diced carrots, chopped tomatoes, or chopped peppers...

Dinner at home with two of my three sons (third lives in Florida), my cousin and myself. Menu the same as every year - turkey with my Mom's hamburger stuffing, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. One addition to the menu is something that, until this year, I hadn't been able to find here in Vegas - rutabaga. It's been a traditional part of all holiday menus in our family since I was a small child and I missed it for the years I didn't have it. And, of course, several different pies for dessert.

My aunt and one grandmother used to make the jello with carrots. I always managed to avoid it, even when I was at the kids table. That aunt was the same one that used coconut as a garnish on damn near everything (and I mean everything, coconut on roast, in mashed potatoes, you name it and coconut was there).

Growing up in PA sauerkraut was a normal dish year round but I never heard of it being a Thanksgiving thing until moving to MD. Here it's a Baltimore thing.

Texas v Texas A&M. Hook em horns.

Most Thanksgiving food (turkey, stuffing, rutabega, casserole....etc) just does not appeal to me at all. So I'll just have a normal dinner.
