Will it be 70-75% for the top bracket like it was in the 80s under Reagan or the late 60s and early 70s under Nixon? Those dirty socialist Republicans!

Oh wait... what's that? Obama only raised it back to where it was before GWB lowered it? 39%? Laffles.

The historical illiteracy is amazing. And before you say see it was 70% under Reagan please note it came down to 28% when he left office. The 70% was from Carter. If you want to argue that it was still 70% under Reagan then all the problems Obama "inherited" must also have been of his doing from day one.

It's a little strange because from what I've seen, people on the right never take stock in what Hollywood folk have to say, so I'm a little surprised by the reactions. Given that: I like her, I always have. She's different & she's not afraid to let it be known that she's different. I will say that I read that earlier today & I was a little surprised given how she seems to be in her personal life. Of course, I don't think anyone should count on what they read about celebrities 100%, lots of weird stuff gets strewn about.

But whatever, if that's how she feels, then fine. As long as her & Brad keep doing what they're doing, in terms of charity, then who cares. Those two are really a celebrity couple that people can actually look up to & say "they're good stuff". I just heard that they again gave quite a bit of money away to charity...who can argue w/that, even if they are hollywood? Too bad more of us don't follow their example. What's that saying? They actually eat what they sow? No, that's not it Well, you know what I mean.

Uh, Oprah was the one that really got the Obama worship going in over drive by anointing him, "The One." Pretty sure we know what "O" thinks.

I got my numbers from a US govt. site and it clearly shows that the rate was that high throughout the Nixon and Carter years and for most of the Reagan years. It didn't get lowered to anywhere near "modern standards" (30-40% range) until the very tail end of Reagan's tenure. He knew he couldn't run us 2.3 trillion into the hole AND lower taxes, so he passed the buck to GHWB, and in more ways than one. He gave him a huge deficit and slashed the top bracket rate on his way out. And then gullible people prop him up act as if he was all about lowering it.

In the end, my point still stands, why didn't people call Johnson, Nixon, Carter, and Reagan socialists when the rates under their tenures were sky-high compared to Obama's?

Answer: Because their name wasn't Obama.

Oh wow, Oprah really said that about Obama? I had no idea....do you have transcripts or maybe a video that shows her saying that? That'd be interesting to see.
