Hey Reb, I like that you don't hold grudges but your thinking is so old fashioned. You gotta be smarter than that!
Well folks, you shouldn't get in a fight with ignorance and uneducated fellows. We all need to take it slow and try and reason with this young fellow. I'm a decendant of the Lee family. Robert Lee had two family members that signed the Declaration of Independance. Although Robert Lee had slaves he gave his estate to his slaves that he really did care for near the end of the war. My great, greatgrandmother was escorted by Confederate soldiers just before Lee surrendered to what is now Denver. They were the Webers, ever hear of Weber Wagon Wheels? Some slaves including the Lee slaves lived a better life than a lot of poor folks in New York City. Slavery was a way of life that the Lees were born into. Later on, near the end of the war Lee gave his land to the slaves. Yep, really happened. Then the Union came in and took it from the slaves. Now they call it Arlington National Cemetary. Most of the Lees didn't fight for slavery, they fought for their state. Then many men fought for the state not the confederacy, they fought against and invasion of their neighbors lands. They also fought with their neighbors.
The Rebs voted for whom would be the officers. Quite often the Union appointed officers based on wealth and political connections. That is why the south won all the battles until they ran out of material resources. There really were lots of happy slaves and no the war was not all about slavery.
One of the biggest causes was that the Federal Government tended to spend all the money in the North as an example most railroads were in the North. The southerner felt he was not being represented.
I am still in my teens but am years more mature that you losers!
And your posts reflect that you are STILL a teenager...and a sorely undereducated one in the matter of history..as well as very much lacking in the debating skills department.
I'm 23, most definately NOT an "Old white male" and can still articulate an argument better than you have demonstrated on this board.
So, what do you think about may daughter actually carrying a Confederate Flag beach towel with her - and she is black? OBTW - she has NEVER had any problem doing so.
LOL..Im sure that depends on where she goes and what the racial make up of that area is. If she took that beach towel with her to the public pool in the neighborhood I grew up in, well let’s just say that I’m sure she would have a problem. And her being black would make the situation allot worse, not saying it's right, but in the area I grew up in, brandishing a Confederate Flag is asking for unwanted attention that you do not want. And I’m from the south. They actually tell truck drivers who use I-285 to bypass around Atlanta to take all of their Confederate regalia off of their trucks when they pass along NW and SW Atlanta.

I've been through Atlanta several times when doing OTR as a favor to a trucking firm company owning friend of mine (and a bit o' extra cash), and no one has ever said nothing about anything on anyone's truck.
I also have family not far from Atlanta whom I visit on a semi-regular basis. I see the Southern Cross often, much more so then in Tennessee when I go there to visit my father's folks.
I had also heard the shock in many a voice, black and white, when the old State Flag was being removed when we would stop to eat at a resturant in GA.
Generally, I have found in my experiences, that unless one is quite obviously a skin head, neo-nazi type, one is generally left alone when flying the Southern Cross.

Since your trucker then I’m sure you remember when those kids in NW Atlanta shot that bottle rocket into that guy's cab and he crashed the truck and ended up in a coma. Even if you were not a trucker it was all over the national news. And guess what drew those kids to mess with him in the first place?? Why the good ol' stars and bars!! I remember on the news how his dispacther had even told him if he was not going to take it off his truck then to avoid that particular exit where it happened all together. Having a few friends not far from Atlanta and actually in Atlanta is two different things. Like I said before, driving thru the neighborhood I grew up in waving the Confederate Flag is asking for trouble, seriously.

That's what happens whenever the confederate flag is shown. It's like gasoline on fire and immediately causes a riot. The police almost always have to circle the confederates to protect them from the crowd. You never see anything like that where I live but there was an incident in Phoenix. The police have to order the confederates to leave for their own safety. If I were to ever see a confederate flag in public it could lead to a rumble, big time.
Puh-lease. I know of more than one person that has graduated with a MBA, or other such degree from Duke, USC, and Clemson that fly the flag...and would give the devil to anyone that tried to make them take it off.
Or to a region of the US that is referred to as "The land of Fruits and Nuts". You'll have to figure out for yourself if that applies to you or not.
And PLEASE, please come down here and call people "dumb hillbilly losers" to their faces. You probably wouldnt like the results.
"Little loser ghetto"? Dude, if an ENTIRE region is a little loser ghetto to you you need to get out more.

You wanna prove you point? Debate it. Debate it with facts, dates, and quotes. Or do you know how to do this?
I fly the Confederate Flag, and DONT EVEN presume to try to tell me I hate America by flying. AT LEAST one of my ancestors from every generation has been in the military, in each of this country's wars, since the American Revolution. My better half is on the other side of the planet serving this country as we speak.
I see only one person on here that makes themselves look worse...guess who? (Hint, hint...its the person I am replying to RIGHT now...)
Excuse you? Do you REALLY presume to speak for "Most Southerners", when I'd just about bet you've never set foot on Southern soil? You've already presumed in several of your posts to speak for the majority of America. Low life? Really? How about posts that reek of overbearing, undereducated, overemotional, immature ideas?
Pick up a history book(The unedited kind...think the OLD books you'll find on the shelves of this big building called a Library.) You're making my generation look bad.
I live in the South. Have lived in the South almost all my life. And I'm sure I know what people down here mean by "Southern Pride." The fact is that many people who have good formal educations in the South are still into that "Southern Pride" thing.......it's generational.
I would never fly a Confederate flag because I also know what that means.
I would guess that guy from South Carolina who yelled "You lie" to the President has a good formal education and certainly understands what is meant by "Southern Pride" in the South.
