Bing..Bing..Bing..Bing..Bing....I knew it was only a matter of time before the ole famous...."You are a racist" card was played. See in today's America if you disagree with Barack Obama or his policies then you are a racist...America is growing weary of this nonsense and is starting to speak up....Are there racists out there of ALL colors..you are damn right there are!! 90% of the people that criticize the current administration are against policies NOT the President's race, creed, ethnicity, etc....Stop with the nonsense...it stopped working after the 400 millionth time it was used.....

If you actually read what I wrote and calmed down, you'd see that NOWHERE in there did I say that they didn't deserve it. What I was stating was that they are SOCIALISTIC policies.. and to be against socialistic policies introduced now is hypocritical .. especially since they will benefit from socialistic

I mean really....what is going on in this country??? We can feed, clothe, house, and medically treat those that are in this country ILLEGALLY but because we decry the socialistic "tendencies" of the current administration the "about the retire" need to give up their benefits or SHUT UP!!!
We don't feed, house and clothe illegals. We DO feed and clothe the children they birthed here who are then LEGAL citizens. Again.I never said they should give up anything, but I said how dare they decry socialistic policies as evil and wrong when they are going to be living off such policies.

Obviously I'm one that feels SS is important as is medicare. I just find it hypocritical to be against Socialistic policies now

Ludicrous for you to say it at the least and possibly maniacal. If given the option to have opted out of Social Security I gladly would have done it.
According to some conservatives on these boards who like to boast about how they manage to live outside of SS laws, ie: not pay in, apparently you can. But let's face it, most people are not financially suave enough to know how and where to invest and SS is going to be neccesary to live. Not all, but most.

Yes, younger generations have been paying more an more....do the math.....when does it become UNSUSTAINABLE????
Our health care system right now IS UNSUSTAINABLE.. just look at what has happened to it in the last 10 years.. Europe is doing quite well with their "Socialistic" medical care system.

Quote:
Government run...Social Security - almost bankrupt.....Medicare - almost bankrupt.......Medicaid - almost bankrupt....Come on now...give me a break with give up your benefits or shut up........
I dont' get ANY benefits.. nor am I looking for some. health care reform is NOT about FREE anything.. its about the ABILITY for ALL of us who ARE NOT POOR, yet are not wealthy enough to purchase into the system. Yes, there are subsidies.. because guess what buddy.. you need a healthy middle class for you and the rest of the baby boomers to live with dignity and comfort in your retirement years. As our salaries get squeezed and more and more of our income goes to health care.. well you get the idea. THIS system is Unsustainable. We spend more than ANY nation in the world AND we get LESS for it!! THe rest of the free world has figured it out already...

If the The middle class continues to dissappear.. everythign goes to hell. Just look at retail sales as the middle income has been suffering through this recession. WE stop spending and all hell breaks loose. Health care is just another noose around the necks of Americans.

As I say.. to be against health care reform is hypocritical of your generation. I'm not saying you don't deserve your benefits.. but how dare you decry socialistic type policies when that is what is going to save many of the baby boomers in the future and has allowed many of the older generations to live the end of their lives in dignity rather than in squallor.

Oh.. and it's important to note that despite rhetoric to the contrary when medicare was enacted, we are not the communist nation they all tried to tell everyone we'd be .. Just like they are using the same BS scare tactics now.

I refuse to surrender anything else to a government that has proven over and over that anything they get their fat and bloated fingers on seems to turn to something brown colored that smells REAL bad. In addition to costing billions more than original estimates (sounds familiar..haven't we recently been sold a bag of goods about what something WILL cost in the future) they have proven that benefits continue to DECREASE while the cost to the taxpayer INCREASES. Using Europe as a model is ludicrous...I can do a google search that shows just as many europeans that are UNHAPPY with "universal health care" that are pleased. In America the MAJORITY of people are happy with the health care we presently have. To satisfy 15-20 million uninsured we are going to bankrupt an ENTIRE country with a fat, bloated, plan that does little to nothing to alleviate the problem but WILL in fact give the government more control over our lives.........

What you and the rest of your kind ignore is that that number 15-20 M are growing at a fast tick.. and getting faster. Check your premiums .. they ahve gone up yet again another double digit percentage wise. How long do you think that is sustainable?

I'd be curious to see the new numbers with the current economic climate.
HOw long do you think employers will continue to pay 23% on top of the salary they pay their employees.

How long can small business stay in business with the cost rising so high. They are dropping coverage awfully quick..or their employees are also paying a HUGE percentage of if not all of the premiums.. which take up a very large chunk of their salary.

Housing is supposed to be 35% of your income. Guess what. Average cost of health care is approx 23% of the average family income of 56K! That's like two mortgages.

Yup.. you're right.. more Americans currently have coverage through their employer.. and have NO FREAKING CLUE what they are in for if their employer ever drops their insurance coverage as a result of costs increasing (or face even more stagnation of their wages to compensate for said costs..).. Amazing how a loss of job opens eyes for a lot of people at what that "perk" of employment actually costs... and how they realize without that "perk" they wouldn't be able to afford it for themselves.

The problem keeps getting MORE expensive to fix. So I guess you think we should wait till that percentage gets much higher... the percentage of uninsured that is. I imagine that in another 10 years we'll be at double , maybe triple?? But then I can imagine the cost to fix it then.

Hell .. it would have been cheaper if we had fixed it back in 94'... and we would have been better off. Instead, we now have MORE uninsured, more problems iwthin our system. Ah.. but I guess that's okay because a handful of insurance execs got to make billions of dollars right?

More and more AARP members are dropping / not renewing their memberships because of AARP's approval of the socialistic policy changes by the Government.

Actually, I was speaking about the letter writer's racism against Mexicans. And she might also want to take into consideration the fact that thousands of us who are also members of AARP were writing to the orgainzation telling them if they didn't support the health care reform we would resign our membership.

They'll come back when they realize they aren't getting their AARP discounts.
