Sad, isn't it. I live in a very conservative area and it's not uncommon at all for businesses to have him playing all afternoon for their customers and employees to listen to. Several hours of Rush all day, every day brainwashes people in my opinion.

This. Times 1000.

Sadly, my father is one of those drones who listens to Limbaugh and tries to argue with talking points. Even in high school, I smote him on the debate of gay marriage.

Dittoheads are mostly uneducated, small town rednecks. I have been listening to the show for a long time and the quality of people who call the show is very low.
I have never met a person who was highly educated and a Dittohead.

This has been common knowledge for quite some time. But it's useful to see it quantified.

Glenn Beck is doing well but Rush is The Man.

Right now, Limbaugh and Palin are running the party. This is for 2 reasons.

1. Far righters have noticed the news gives them FAR more attention than moderate republicans who have been ignored. And Limbaugh and Palin are emblems of the far right.

2. Democrats know that as long as they can keep the Republicans seen as directed by extremists, they will keep the moderate vote, and the moderate vote is what wins elections.

Rush has a big microphone. One would expect that he exerts some measure of influence in the world of conservatives. I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that he ranks high on the list. Afterall, the liberal left makes sure that his name stays in the headlines constantly. But lets keep this in perspective. He only garnered 26%. I'm a staunch conservative and NEVER listen to Rush Limbaugh. I believe this is more about name recognition then about actual influence.
