As well you should. When I made that post, I was sick of being attacked by someone who thought his attacks were arguments. He was being a bully, and had no idea how badly he was being refuted. Intelligent, sustained conservative argumentation makes much of what happens here the obvious explosions of temper it really is.

Believe about 2% of what you read on city-data because just about everyone is full of it, and don't know nearly as much about a topic as they claim too.

You could start with this post....

....Unless you want to include "Liberals making intelligent and thoughtful arguments is extinct" as well (which is the truth)

I share the views and feelings you expressed in your post. I don't believe people are ignorant of what they are doing here, except in perhaps a few instances. There are a many who try to have honest debates, but the problem with "debates" is that one or the other side has to win. That is the position of debaters. In the discussion that needs to take place among the American citizens, there must not be a drive to "win". It ought to be a drive for understanding - a sincere effort at brainstorming in the hope that good, and new, innovative ideas come out of that, and that we have a growing sense of unity, not division and separation.

That clip is from 2004, and sadly nothing has changed. I wish that Congress would be required to watch it. All good (and bad) things filter down from the top (management). If we view our President and Congress as those entrusted with the position of "managing" the affairs of our country, then we ought to be expecting THEM to set a tone of unity and purpose. As it is, they are disgracefully, shamefully divisive, un-transparent, and self-serving. The recognition of this, and rejection by a growing segment of the population, shows up in impatience, disappointment, and anger at them, and even at ourselves, for allowing this to continue. The media plays a major role in creating division. It is time to leave partisansip with its bedfellows - propaganda, manipulation, power grabbing. Partisanship is no longer a virtue, for it doesn't represent core values on either side (it represents hidden agendas).

It is now more important to be true and honest than to be partisan. The country's future is at stake.

I believe that there is a movement in the country for real change. What that movement accomplishes in the end remains to be seen, but hopefully it will make a dent in the political power machine that uses and abuses the people, instead of serving them. Whether that will be through a third party, or a clean sweep of Congress, we can't tell yet. Hopefully it might be both.

If you think so, then that is fine. But wouldn't it be much more helpful to say *what* it is that you find stupid rather than just *that* you think it is stupid? I mean, the rest of us can't read your mind. How about helping us out, here? What is it, precisely, that you find stupid?
