Reagan was a disaster. Worse then any post WW2 president, since everything bad started with him. He preceded Bush. Did he connect with people? Who cares, when his presidency was the turning point in the modern American history?

The mission failed not in the sense you suggest, but because military power cannot fix Afghanistan's problems. I believe that we should get out ASAP because there is not much else we can do. Yes, we can kill more people, but would that fix Afghanistan? I doubt it. Best tactic is to bring troops home from Iraq AND Afghanistan and let these countries fix their problems. It will save $$$, lives, etc. We are just wasting out time there.

I agree with the poster that calls the POTUS Obama/Bush they sure look a lot alike.
Obama is acting RESPONSIBLY as a president who INHERITED two major wars.

As much as Obama wants to bring the troops home and end both wars, he also has to consider the ramifications of allowing Al Qaeda to regroup, and grow stronger.

Al Qaeda is a very dangerous enemy of the United States.

Obama can not simply ignore that fact, the way Bush did for the first 8 months of 2001.

Obama asked to be president of the United States back in early 2007 when he first volunteered to run for office.

And everything that went with his presidency was inherited on his inauguration day on Jan 20, 2009, based on whatever tasks Bush left unfinished.

inherited means given without choice. Obama had a choice to take up the presidency. It is impossible to inherit a problem as president that is known ahead of time.
