So I guess the AARP will now be knows in certain circles as a socialist organization.

I love John Mccain and his spunk!!
I quit AARP years ago when I tried to sign up for their car insurance, supposed to save me big bucks
horse crap!!
because I am self -employed I was told I would have to buy commerical insurance, not true.
I have no signs on my truck, do not carry equipment and drive way under the mileage rate, this would have cost me 3 times as much!!
I told them to shove it, I have been happy with Farmers Insurance which is also my home owners insurance and I get a half price on my car insurance.
AARP is a big rip off and have sold out seniors for this health care
I agree folks should drop them and drop them now!

The AARP don't provide the insurance, a third party does (currently Hartford). So any issues should be with the insurance company.

I also tried with them (AARP), but another company was less. But even with my credit union's suggested company, I still found less elsewhere, but I'm not quiting the CU just because of a third party rate being higher. It's not like insurance companies all have the same rate no matter which company you choose, some will be higher and some lower, based on what ever risk factors they use. The AARP doesn't set the rates or pick the factors.

Cut up the cards, and mail them back in the prepaid envelopes. I wonder how many tons of plastic that will produce : OR hang the card on your Christmas tree and repeat " I am NOT OLD. The people who run AARP like to frighten people who are in their golden years."

I don't understand why some people seem to be defending AARP. There is no defense for their failure to look out for those they claim to represent. They're no better than so many of our legislators.

It is the over compensation being paid out to ins. cos. for Advantage plans, that Obama wants to eliminate. Not the Advantage plans themselves. I am sorry I am beating this to death, but it upsets me when people say Obama wants to eliminate Advantage plans. That is not true and he has never said that.
You are beating a dead horse. You are basing your comments on what is available in your state. My point was that not every region of the country has the same plans. Nobody can get a decent plan for zero dollars. Either deductibles, donut holes or co pays are larger, sometimes all of the above are affected. Like I said, which you seem to be gloss over, is that your state has more competition just because of the population of elderly there, so there is more to choose from in the way of plans. That is not true for many other places in the country.

I can assure you that I've personally seen at least one video clip where Obama said the goal is to get rid of Advantage Plans. This isn't hearsay. I heard it myself. Why do you think insurance companies went on a campaign to get their members to contact Congress and ask that they keep the Advantage plans.

Obama would just assume we put all old folks in some place where they play shuffleboard and stay quietly out of politics. Same with AARP. It's all about control.

Thank God for McCain...a real American Hero! Remember, he was defending our country in VietNam when Obama was playing with dolls and blowing boogers on himself.

McCain is trying to tap into the anger of the Tea Party crowd. In order to get their vote, you need to sound like you're very angry. I won't be surprised if he's starts using words like "revolution". The teabaggers would love that.
