"[House Majority Leader Steny] Hoyer's logic was two-fold. By removing itself from earnest negotiation, the GOP has ensured a less substantive debate or, as he put it, 'empty exercises.' Secondly, when Congress finds itself deadlocked, it essentially makes the body itself 'less relevant every day.'

"Others have observed this paradigm in various legislative debates. Consumed by political infighting, Congress has lost institutional coherence and power over the last few decades."

Hoyer: GOP Obstructionism Damaging The Institution Of Congress

Both sides are guilty of this and have been for decades.

Don't be misled - Democrats do not need any GOP votes to pass legislation.

What Congress does is divide the country so that we (American citizens) beat ourselves up, and they have the power. When the people of America stand together on an issue, 99% of the time we get our way.

What?

The GOP can't obstruct anything. It's their own party members who they can't seem to get in line.

LOL

Amazing how the excuses start to fly when its becomes evident that Democrats have achieved NOTHING with their supermajority status.

Blame it on the nearly powerless GOP.

Sadly, the feeble minds on the left will be drooling all over this assertion from Hoyer.
