WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama called for a major new burst of federal spending Tuesday, perhaps $150 billion or more, aiming to jolt the wobbly economy into a stronger recovery and reduce painfully persistent double-digit unemployment.

This is Bush's mess and it took him and the Republicans 8 years to completely and utterly destroy the country and its economy. It doesn't matter how much gawddam money they throw at it, it ain't gonna come around soon.
Yeah..I think Hoover was the last one to say "suck it up and make do".
Of course, let's not forget that Hoover was the long dissenting voice of not promoting inflation during the 20's, while Coolidge and Co. pursued the Federal Reserve policy of inflating away the currency barely 10 years into their tenure. Hoover deserved a few "I told you so's" after 1929. It's too bad he didn't have the luxury of that when he took the presidency.
