Oh yes indeed it is. For years, we have heard the narrative from the Left and the believers that "skeptics" and "dissenters" were rolling in funding from Big Evil Oil - now we know that is another lie from the AGW community.

Follow the money.

Physics Group Splinters Over Global Warming Review - Taking Liberties - CBS News

Quote:
As the science scandal known as ClimateGate grows, the largest U.S. physicists' association is finding itself roiled by internal dissent and allegations of conflict of interest over a forthcoming review of its position statement on man-made global warming.

Socolow's research institute at Princeton has received well over $20 million in grants dealing with climate change and carbon reduction, plus an additional $2 million a year from BP and still more from the federal government.

"It is Socolow whose entire research funding stream, well over a million dollars a year, depends on continued alarm over global warming," says William Happer, a fellow Princeton University professor and head of the Happer physics lab who has raised the question of a conflict of interest.
Mr. Cocolow has a egregious conflict of interest as the scientist who will head the "review" of the APS statement, considering the millions of dollars he has received from his AGW work.

Let's not forget Mr. Phil Jones and his piggy bank;

Climategate Master Criminal Phil Jones Collected $22.6 Million in Grants

“So far, the most interesting file I found in the “documents” directory is pdj_grant_since1990.xls which shows that since 1990, Phil Jones has collected a staggering 13.7 million British pounds ($22.6 million) in grants.
And then we have Mr. Hockey Stick, who has done quite well for himself;

Quote:
For those keeping score, that's almost $6 million total for various predictions, models and reconstructions over the last 13 years by Mann and his playmates. Note also the generally escalating grant amounts in recent years. A lot of that is from the government's National Science Foundation and NOAA teats.

This is not even the tip of the iceberg in terms of the hundreds of billions of dollars that is funding these group of elite AGW fanatics.

You forgot to add al Gore, and detail how much he was worth as Vice President in 2000, and how much he is worth today.

Arghhh! How could I forget The Goreacle?

From approx $2 million in 2000 to over $100 million in 2009.

Correction, Gore's net worth was much less:

Quote:
Gore, who has been on the government payroll since 1977, reported income of just more than $300,000, including his $175,400 salary. He also reported rental income of close to $25,000 from houses in Carthage, Tenn. Gore listed assets totaling a minimum of $1.4 million and liabilities of $600,000, leaving the vice president with a minimum $800,000 net worth. .

Washingtonpost.com: In Personal Wealth, Bradley Leads Gore
The AGW gravy train has been good to gore, and he will not allow it to be derailed with the truth; his rhetoric will only take on a more dire tone of urgency.

A lot of money goes the other way as well.

Exactly what is your point?

You choose to believe one group of people getting rich off of propaganda over another.

This is funny. See what sanrene is doing here? She is equating global climate science with "belief." It's like those people who call Darwinism a religion. It's an attempt to muddy the water and spread confusion and disinformation.

People who do that are extremelly dishonest.

My point is that the AGW gravy train is fueled with trillions in taxpayer funded subsidies, and trillions more are being planned. This completely dwarfs anything in the private sector.

Government money is free, GE does not have to work for it, they just get it FREE. Which route looks to be the easiest, collect free government money, or take financial risks to create products to sell on the open market to make money?

The ironic thing is that when Bernie Madorf (sp) scams people for billions of dollars, he's a crook, held in contempt by society and jailed. When Al Gore and the rest of the AGW crowd does the same thing, under the force of government, they're hailed as heros. Some people will believe anything.

We have scientists manipulating data, hiding data, deleting data, conspiring to exclude dissenting views from being heard, and core data sets that are either completely useless, fraudulent or destroyed. If none of this rattles your belief that the "science on man made global warming is settled", then maybe sanrene is not far off the mark here.
