Bush expanded the federal government, and governmental powers.

Bush's big government - Washington Times

He was an example of a "conservative statist"

So, just as in 2000, a minority of people would rather have Bush.

However, war was needed and he pursued it to the best of his ability... albeit with bad intelligence.

True, he may not have had the best presidency ever, but one thing we could always depend on during his two terms... he had genuinely good intentions to promote freedom worldwide, and that I respect.

Obama is your typical intellectual stiff. No personality whatsoever, boring, weak-minded, and inexperienced. blah...
Unfortunately, your statement about the deficit is far from reality. The great majority of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is NOT included in the national deficit. Bush, no matter what good or bad he did, was great at spending, far from conservative.

When the 2004 elections rolled around, many in his party were questioning his actions since he had promised not to engage in nation building or entering a war without an exit strategy, both of which he had done by then. Many conservatives couldn't reconcile the man he was with the man he had promised to be. He wasn't going to be promoting freedom worldwide when he was running for office, or at least it certainly wasn't going to be by starting an unnecessary war. He left this country in a very sorry state and everyone in his party knows it. Why do you think nobody wanted his support when they were running in 2008?

While Obama is only 11 months in office, Bush had 8 years to do things and yet even up until January of 2008, he was denying there was any problem with the economy and so were the pundits. In fact, they were calling this Obama's recession before he even took the oath of office.

Now we have the Republicans telling us they can do better and yet they had the chance for the last 8 years and didn't. I, as a conservative independent, want to know why. I'm sick of both parties and the fighting back and forth. They complain about the exact same things no matter which party does it. It's childish, irresponsible and disgusting to watch. As long as it takes millions of dollars to get elected, we will never have a party that is for the people. They will always be indebted to the corporate interests that got them elected.

I voted for Mccain and never voted for Bush, I always voted democrat before even though I had to make myself vote for Kerry and Gore, but I did what I was told as a little democrat minion, I am not a minion any longer.

All that I would like to say is give him a chance, it took Bush 8 years to screw up the country and it will proably take longer to straighten it out.

What I never understood is that how people can call Obama stupid and think Bush was a genius. For some of you who think that Bush was so great, why did he ALLOW war profiteering in a war that should not have happened in the first place?

I bet mqany of you who think that Bush was so great never served in the military or have a clue what goes on outside of the US either......well pretty much like many of the millionaire congressmen/senators.

This brings up another question, why are the people (politicians) are all well off (rich) and have the least in common with the general population make all of the rules governing people that they know so little about?

How much does the poorest politician (senator/congressman) have in assets? I bet that it is more than a million dollars
