it is our duty to ensure that these rights are a living reality -- that they are known, understood and enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. It is often those who most need their human rights protected, who also need to be informed that the declaration exists -- and that it exists for them.

There are people held in Guantanamo bay who dont have any links with Al-Qaeda but still get tortured, you can't just treat any human being like an animal. Becuase for example, the U.S. army are responsible for killing up to 200,000 innocent people including women and children in Iraq, or the ones who bombed up to 5,000 innocent people before invading Afghanistan but they dont get arrested for their horrible crimes why?, but some of those detainees get arrested with no rights for just killing 3,000 people, i know thats wrong but both of them should face the same consequences, this is not fair.
Ahhhh...I feel safer already! Having them closer to my family instead of out there in the middle of the ocean with sharks all around them! Don't you feel safe, too!!?
Shucks....instead of trained marines guarding them, we'll have ol' Goober from the five and dime watching them part-time. I'm sure there will be no security breaches or anything. It's not like these terrorists are anything on the level of reality show wannabes crashing a White House party.....
The Illinois option is only one of several that they are looking at. No decision has been made on where or when these detainees will be moved. But, they will be moved.
Apparently they will be moved to IL, poste haste. Did you not read the memo? Tampa sounds good, too, now that they are acclimated to the southern climes.
Isn't it ironic that America put its gulag for political prisoners in communist Cuba. The only thing we haven't done is strike a deal with the Cubans for technical assistance! Actually, we have a very good replacement for Gitmo and with a little clean-up, rehab and modernization. It is a windy chilly damp misrable sort of place surrounded by cold waters which are thought impossible to swim. The views of the City by the Bay and the Golden Gate are magnificent and drive home the fact you are stuck in this place. The place is Alcatraz aka "Rock".

Do you even know what a Gulag is??

Meals for detainees are ample: we lunched on what several thought was an accumulated single day’s ration for detainees. “No,” the contract food service manager said with a laugh, “what you’re looking at there is today’s lunch. A single meal. They get three a day like that.” The vegetables, pita bread, and other well-prepared food filled two of the large Styrofoam take-home containers we see in restaurants. Several prisoners have special meal orders like “no tomatoes” or “no peanut products” depending on taste or allergies. “One prisoner,” General Hood said, “throws back his food tray if it contains things he has specifically said he doesn’t want.” How is he punished for this outrageous behavior? His tray is numbered, the food he requested is put on it, and the corrected “order” is delivered to his cell.

Buddy these people get made fun of, tortured, they also burn and desecrate the Koran just to **** them off, and on top of that they have no rights. These things have been told to the media by former Guantanamo detainees.
I guess you forgot we live in a country where more people are incarcerated, per capita, than anywhere else on earth. It's something we are quite good at.
It's not like these guys are going out on work release anytime soon. Hope to hear Thomson Correctional Center is receiving them, its brand new and has never been used

AND YOU KNOW THIS ON WHAT AUTHORITY??? And you think we give a flip about them being made fun of????? LOL
Hey...if only they had just made fun of Daniel Pearl. Remember him??? What trips me out is that you believe stories of the cut throats.
