People of Connecticut PLEEEZE vote this bum out of office! Not supporting a public option was bad enough, but now he plainly tells Reid that he will also not vote for any bill that extends Medicare coverage to people 55-64. This guy is so bought by the Health Insurance industry that he might as well walk around with a flashing placard that says as much.

The Connecticut economy is based on Insurance and Military spending. Lieberman would lose his campaign funding if he crossed either. Anyone challenging Lieberman’s positions would never get funded for an election bid. All of Connecticut’s politicians know who is wagging the congressional dogs. Lieberman is nothing more than a voting machine for the Gold Coast, Hartford and the Military Industries.

And, I might add, the American public which overwhelmingly opposes health care reform in its current form.

I'll offer an opposing view:

Since Joe Liebermann is not running for re-election in 2012, its entirely possible that he sees this legislation for what it really is (a piece of crap), and thus is standing up for what he believes in because he's able to do so without the outside influence that comes with a re-election campaign.

Food for thought.

Amen. What's their goal to take a way in debt system and add people to it knowing baby boomers are going to be hitting the magic age sooner not later. Are they trying to collapse it early?

Who would want that bill on their legacy, unless they were going to profit from it?

I'm still trying to figure out how extending coverage from a bankrupt, or nearly so, program to even more people makes sense.

That worthless POS.

Josh Marshall is pointing out today that Lieberman ran on a Medicare buy-in platform in 2000, and supported the idea back in September.

He adds nothing to the debate; he might as well make it official and announce he's a Republican.
