Most American's - conservative, moderate, and liberal - agree that healthcare reform is needed. However, most American's don't agree that healthcare reform is so urgent that it is needed right now.
More importantly, most American's don't believe that either Republicans or Democrats have their best interests in mind. On one hand, you have promises of no new taxes. On the other hand, you have promises to insure the uninsured. Most logical people understand that this concept is falacious at the very core.
Additionally, American's have a wide-ranging view of what the healthcare reform should or should not include. From the public option to abortion, there are many major issues to resolve. It's true that Republicans have proven an effective stumbling block along this long path, but its equally as true that Democrats can't agree on the specifics either.
Although Obama has not provided very many mandates on what he believes the legislation should include, its clear that the original intent of the reform has devolved into a battle of wits and egos instead of a battle for what's true and good for the American public. This is not what we hired these people to do. It's time for Congress to take a step back and start over and work out the real issues blocking true healthcare reform.

Yes. They should start over and start with tort reform and allow people to shop across the states for better insurance rates. I liked McCains idea to give back each year to every citizen, $5,000 for the purchase of insurance.
Yes, they need to stop, take a break and work on the most important issue JOBS.
They need to wipe this bill off and start from scratch only this time LISTEN to the majority of the American people who want health care REFORM, not free health care given to others.
We need to lower the cost down and other things, not spend trillions of dollar to cover only 15% of the people.
Since Harry Reid took over in 2007 he has not passed a single bill that means anything. Guess all those promises he and Nancy laid out turned out to be nothing but lies.

Remember these same dems always came back with "we need to think about this" under Bush, now they want to rush everything through so none can pick it apart. Tells me they are up to something fishy.
This bill is about saving face. They're going to pass it, regardless of what the people want and regardless of what bad legislation it is. They don't care about its cost, will lie about it anyway, and since it doesn't take affect for years, they can likely dodge any harm that will come of it.

They pass this crap bill and they will pay for it.
Definitely not time to start over. We will have a start, make no mistake about that. A bill that will, although flawed, get us moving in the right direction and continually evolve over time.
They need to start over and make smaller, well thought-out changes instead of this "OMG THE SKY IS FALLING IF WE DONT PASS BIG, SWEEPING REFORM NOW" nonsense.

I am afraid this is where you are wrong. Stupid people vote and there are ALOT of them around. They aren't well-informed as to voting records regarding issues, and care more about "what's in it for me" rather than the entended and unintended consequences. Guess you are correct, Obama got elected and "most" of those people would trade their vote in a heartbeat.

This is obama's waterloo - he said it himself - if he doesn't get a HC bill to sign, any bill, doesn't matter if its good or bad, it will destroy his presidency.
I have just heard that after having his arm twisted out of its socket, Harry will drop the PO and Medicare buyin.
