Basically, a growing group of Christians are fighting not just against the secularization of Christmas, but also against other "Christians" who have ignored what has REALLY been destroying Christmas over time. That is, the absurd commercialization of the holiday. The fun part is, I would describe myself as agnostic, yet I can completely get behind the message that shopping, traffic, debt, etc is pretty much the exact opposite of everything Jesus was talking about.

Of course, it is an uphill battle, but I can appreciate their efforts.

Quote:
"When you start jacking with people's idea of what Christmas is and you start to go against this $450 billion machine of materialism and consumerism, it really messes with people," he explains. "It takes a lot of patience to say there's a different way - Christmas doesn't have to be like this."

The movement itself is called Advent Conspiracy; you can watch one of their promo videos.

That's excellent! Thank you for posting it.

Makes me think of this image (https://www.adbusters.org/files/imagecache/superlink_graphic_large/super_links/buynothingxmas09.jpg - broken link) at the similarly fine (but secular) Adbusters.org.
