What do you call the big boss at a campaign headquarter?

Manager or Director?

I helped a friend from another state in her campaign for state legislature in 2006. Her husband ran her campaign and I and others called voters, many for days to catch them at home. I guess the fact that my friend was a Democrat makes me some kind of turncoat since I am not one of those. However, I really saw her as a well informed woman about state business. She had been a school board member in Colorado Springs for several years and served the state school board association with the legislature for a couple.

My lady was about 37 and the incumbent was in his 50s and had never really been campaigned against. Of course, he won although she ran a very organized campaign and went out to meet the people with a door knocking campaign. I think she could have won last year but she decided here kids needed her around since they were both early teens.

I don't think that organization had any titles for those in it.

Heavens, have worked on many and it really doesn't much matter what you call them. I would say manager is more common.

The head of the whole campaign would be the "Campaign Manager". Each campaign has various offshoots such as "Director of Media Services", or "Director of Fundraising". Directors report directly to the Campaign manager.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO long ago, don't want you to know just how long but if i am not mistaken i believe it is the Campaign Manager. Today the term may have changed, but i do not think so.

I say campaign manager most days.

And to answer the question in the title, I have worked for a political campaign before.

Having worked as paid staff, consultant and volunteer the posters who answered, "Alec, What is a campaign manager?" will go on to the lightening round.
