Let's take those returning from thier military tours to work as real security. Boost the pay, and put the TSA clowns back to work as janitors!
I wouldn't want them as janitors either. Janitors have to work with hazardous chemicals and power tools like high speed buffers. I wouldn't trust them with such items.

Why is that just so hard for you to understand? And why bring up the fact that a 'republican' had to say on the subject? Would you believe it if it had been a democrat rep or sen who described the situation? Are you really that much of a partisan axx?
So what exactly was their choice here? They could have not tackled him and let the device go off or they could have tackled him. They chose the latter.

Heroism is when your faced with two choices - one that might kill you and one that allows you to get away scot-free and you chose the dangerous option for the greater good. Here they had no choice that was safe, so they took the less dangerous approach.

It was smart, it was intelligent, I'm glad they did it. But heroism?

From the link provided by the OP: "The man was apparently already on the government's no-fly list of suspected terrorists, ABC News said a senior intelligence official told them." and also, what exactly where they, and then just how did these devices get on board? Granted it was an Amsterdam screening process,,, but still. Lastly, just what is our beloved TSA going to do now? TSA: Transportation Security Administration Statement on Northwest Airlines Flight 253

EDIT/Add: from http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_airliner_disturbance (broken link) :

Another law enforcement official, also speaking on condition of anonymity in order to discuss the case, said Mutallab's name had surfaced earlier on at least one U.S. intelligence database, but not to the extent that he was placed on a watch list or a no-fly list.

Why are you so hung up on the label people use to describe some passengers who saved the lives of 300 people? Heroism to many people is about saving lives and it doesn't matter how. People are alive tonight because of what those passengers did. They could have sat frozen in fear and not acted at all.

What if this individual had gotten away with blowing up the plane?

At minimal, it would have been Obama's first TRUE test as president. So....... What would his response have been to this incident? It would have sucked having to cut his tropical vacation short.

Bleeding heart liberals should thank their lucky stars that this attack was foiled. It could have been really ugly otherwise, and not just for those onboard. Think about it.

Every passenger on board that plane should be given a medal of valor!

Was this guy an ideological soulmate or friend of yours?

You posts on this particular thread makes it seem that this event has struck a nerve with you and appear desparate to prove something over and above what actually hapened.
