I wanted to post a video that I encountered, that made me question what parents thought about freak dancing, and if they would be terrified of their sons/daughters partaking in this form of dancing. For those parents that don't know what "freak dancing" is, it is basically dancing while simulating sexual acts. It's basically dry humping to music. I thought that this would fit in the "controversial" part of this forum.

It is a free country. However, I would hire anyone for a position of importance frequenting such a place. Not terribly classy. Somewhat degrading. Too voyeuristic. Not really dancing.
Back in my day dances ended with a grope & shuffle to Stairway To Heaven in a dimly lit room. There's a lot more action going on in a slow dance than a jerky exhibitionist freak show. Damn, now it's another Sunday afternoon getting nostalgic and digging up old 70's classics on YouTube.

That video was pretty ripe for parody..Too bad the Chapelle Show isn't on any more, they could've made a great skit with that.
We used to "freak dance" back in high school in the late 90s, although we were just dancing to the gangsta rap of the period, just in an overly sexual fashion with a partner. And amazingly we all ended up being fairly productive members of society.. Most of the "dancing" in the video isn't even really to the beat; it's just sort of over-the-top dryhumping. And WTF..was this at Best Buy sponsered event? Man, Circuit City never would've gone for that back in the day, LOL!
But are high school kids seriously dancing like that in large numbers? As someone else has said it but if you danced like that at most clubs you'd just get laughed at.
Every generation since the Jazz Era(and before) comes up with some sort of dance to shock the older generation. The Lindy Hop and Charleston really pissed off the fogies back in the 30s.
This whole thread is just bait for conservatives to mouth off some more faux moral outrage. Looks like it's not really working..

No outrage just sadness over the burden being placed on younger and younger children with fewer and fewer parents being able to handle it.
The gaps that exist in the US only get wider. This is jut one more device that drives the wedge deeper...

My thought is that its a perfect example of unrestricted competition. Kids doing the most extreme thing they can to look cool and each one outdoing the other until it gets to this point. After enough time you get the most disgusting degrading thing.
That was a performance full of energy & fun but not something you would see in clubs or school dances. The u-tube vid is a choreographed innocent act of sexual art. Nothing wrong with it.
