That's why they changed it to Climate Change. The mean global temperature are going up but only by a small margin.

At this time, South Africa is have record cold with unusual snow.

The problem with unusual or record cold is that the cold has to come from somewhere and that would be the polar regions and the only way the polar cold can move that far from the poles is for warmer high altitude to move toward the poles. In short, polar warming.

This explains the cold weather last winter in the northern hemisphere.

As with most cold waves, the origins of the cold wave occurred when the jet stream migrated southward in early February 2021, allowing bitterly cold air from the polar vortex to spill south into the Upper Midwest and Great Plains.

I'm looking at these results of Ida in the Northeast and this is crazy, flooding in the subways, cars stranded all over the Tri-state area, people sitting on their roof in NJ waiting to be rescued and then there is the fires approaching Lake Tahoe.

How ironic that a poster that lives on a GIANT GLACIAL MORAINE in NY lectures us about climate change.

too bad we aren't capable of effecting the climate.

Climate change makes extreme weather events more extreme. At least that's what I got from Al Gore.

California burning and while New York floods looks extreme to me. And what happened in NOLA? Another worst we've ever had hurricane?

There are tens of thousands of climate zones around the planet that can have abnormal heat, cold, fire, drought, rain, flooding blah blah blah blah.

So each year around this planet, multiple places will have 1 in 1000 year events or 1 in 10,000 etc. new record setting *something*. The worst in recorded history....never happened before....blah blah blah type claims made.

This entire thread is just using that same utterly stupid practice of people trying to sell AGW based upon "record snowfall in Tibet", bad flooding in Germany, coldest day ever in Detroit type garbage. It's gross anti-science and you're not helping when you do it.

The insurance companies aren't going to deal with certain places that have recurring disasters of increasing frequency like the upper Gulf Coast. Warmer sea surface temperatures are yielding rapidly intensifying storms. Warmer air holds more moisture, wet areas will continue to see increasing numbers of extreme precipitation events. Drier areas will continue to get even drier with great ongoing fire threats such as the 20 year drought in large areas of the western US. Global heating means less winter snowfall in the western US, more evaporation of dry ground, and decreasing reservoir and lake levels, all have been consistently observed.

So the increase in cost of addressing these disasters isn't an indicator. 100 year floods becoming 50 year floods, massive fires in Siberia. I agree that you can't just point to one event as proof but this is world wide. The tab on Ida is going to be astronomical from Louisiana to New England then add in the fires in the west.
