Yes and we were n ot prepared, obvious.

This current incident just sends a message to the terrorists that we are not secure. They aleady know that. The simple fact of the matter is we live in an open society and by being such will always be open to those that are willing to die to make a point. Homeland security was the dubious job of trying to stop EVERY attemted attack, the terrorist only have to win one every once in a while. A big step, and one that we dance around, is to profile passengers. It is not the 85 year old women that is the danger it is the young and middle aged Arab men and women that are the danger. That said we will Never be 100% safe so l;ong as we live in afree society and the alternative is worse than the occasional attack. Once we give up all our freedoms to gain a sense of security (a false sense) the terrorists have already won.

What saved those passengers was a mishap with that bomb not going off like it should. Dumb luck it did not go off, sooner or later someone will get lucky, it is just part of the world we live in these days, might as well get used to the idea.

I heard on the news this morning that his father 'notified authorities' in 2008, not 'months' ago. Although 12 months could be substituted for 'a year' (or more, since it was not stated what month in 2008 he gave the warning).

Not that it comes as any surprise coming from you, if it rains tomorrow I am sure you will find a way to whine about it being President Obamas fault.

Hilarious, considering how the crazed Left blamed the Bush admin because "somebody" didn't connect the dots.

Even you have to admit that someone calling a U.S Embassy in Nigeria is quite a bit different from being HANDED a memo that says that Osama Bin Laden is determined to strike in the U.S.
Or, maybe not:

"On CNN Sunday, GOP strategist Mary Matalin repeated a strange new Republican talking point -- the idea that the September 11th attacks didn't happen on President Bush's watch."

U.S. government officials tell The Associated Press that the Nigerian man charged with trying to destroy a jetliner came to the attention of U.S. intelligence in November when his father went to the U.S. embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, to express his concerns about his son.

Perhaps he called to make an appointment, but reports state he went to the US Embassy or consulate.

His son disappeared in late 2008 and that is when he notified authorities. Also saw that on the news this AM.

And do you blame Bush?

Considering he was basically handed a memo stating 9/11 would happen and didn't do squat?

One has to wonder what information terrorist Reid shared shared with his fellow Muslim inmates.

Outrage As Feds Curb Shoe Bomber Prison Rules

Airplane shoe bomber Richard C. Reid no longer faces severe limits on his prison activities or communications after the Obama administration quietly ended years of hard-nosed curbs against the British-born al-Qaeda terrorist.
This summer the Justice Department halted six years of measures that kept Reid from associating or praying with fellow jailed Muslim terrorists, and limited his access to the news media and pen pals.
