This can't be right!? The wealthy do not pay their fair share of taxes!! Or so we are told.
Having moved to America as a impartial outsider i have watched with interest how both Political parties behave. They both have their faults but the Republican party is now a complete shambles. It imploded because of it's refusal to accept the 21st Century. It has a "bully boy" attitude that became abhorrent to the American people and a puritanical attitude when it suits them. The Right worship money and will walk over the middle class to get power or wealth. Unfortunately today's Republican's leave a bitter taste in any rational thinking American's mouth. Profit is now the Republican's middle name and if normal everyday American's have to suffer to bolster the coffers of Republican's then so be it.
If the Republican's regain power, as they stand now, it will become the "lunatics running the assylum" and America can expect another Collapse and financial meltdown..

There's nothing wrong with living in a country that far and away surpasses the living standards and opportunities ANYWHERE.....yet the left is so very focused on bringing us down. Our country has great opportunity and GIVES more money away to other countries every day than anyone else.
The left just wants a socialistic republic. They sell it as "equality", but we HAVE equality. We have equality of opportunity.
Their "equality" means that everyone is lower class and equal, except the socialistic elite, which would be the leaders of the left.
People are just too stupid to look at history and see that this garbage has never worked. Anywhere. And your precious UK is a prime example of that. You're losing your rich history, have horrible health care and offer nothing to anyone.
Children cost a lot, but I don't think they cost that much.
We chose not to have kids. My husbands' brother has 2. We make about the same amount of salary in engineering. We are retiring from the corporate treadmill at age 50 with our retirement funded. Our house was paid off 10 years ago as was our vacation home. The brother is now facing college costs for 2 kids; his house mortgage is far more than it's worth; and retirement is impossible. He's hoping his kids become self sufficient after having been given anything they want as soon as they ask for it, and after hundreds of thousands of dollars lost to college, even though there is absolutely no career any young adult can go into that has much hope of paying a living wage. Would we trade with him? Not a chance.

Explain to me, when I look at actions....just how exactly Obama has changed things? Iraq? Gays? Corporate bailouts? Raised taxes on the rich? Passed universal healthcare? (oooooh the dirty U word) Afghanistan? Please, enlighten us with your sage wisdom.
There is no difference in the parties in deed....just word.
When I was a kid ( in the 1950's ) one of our teachers was talking about wealth and wealth distribution.
She believed if all the wealth in the US was confiscated and equally divided among st all residents, within 2 generations the distribution of wealth in this country would look similar to what it was before the confiscation.
That conclusion is something to think about.
I was doubtfull of her statement then, I actually believe it today.
On an earlier post I said the same exact statement and would give 20 years for the lower class to lose their money. There would be little investing, planning on the future, few businesses opened with the capital.
They would just go back to being poor.
Similar to many lottery winners who are broke within 5 years.

Hey, when the US has been through 2 bloody World Wars (in recent history) then get back to me about Europe. Most European countries are far more advanced than we are, believe it or not. Just take a look at their life expectancies, homicides and overall health and happiness compared to ours.
In fact, 93% of all financial wealth is controlled by the top 10 % of the country. Yep, to hear the Republicans state it, the rich have really got it rough..but the numbers say different.
The poor isn't poor because they know how to build or handle wealth. I'm just saying.
